All major credit cards are accepted at all SIXT locations in the USA. Debit cards are accepted at some branches with 2 forms of government-issued ID.

One-way car rental in the USA

Accepted Answer

It is generally allowed to rent a car one-way between SIXT locations. If you would like to make a one-way rental , you can simply select a different return location in our booking tool. An additional fee may apply.

Can I drive the rental car to another state or country?

Accepted Answer

Vehicles rented at most SIXT locations in the contiguous United States may be driven throughout the contiguous states. Travel into Canada must be in accordance with our geographical restrictions, which can be found in our rental information . Travel to Mexico is not allowed. If you drive outside authorized areas, a fee of $0.50 per mile will apply.

Can I rent a car with a European or international driver's license?

All renters and authorized drivers must present a valid, unexpired, original driver’s license at the time of rental. Renters with a non-U.S. driver's license may also need to provide a valid passport or other government-issued ID. Licenses in non-Roman alphabets (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic) must be accompanied by an international driver’s license. To rent a car with SIXT in USA you need to be at least 21 with a valid license. Some car categories have a higher minimum rental age, and an underage driver fee may apply.

The minimum age to rent a car is 21 - except for the state of New York, where the minimum age is 18. However, some specialty and larger car categories require renters to be 25 or older. An underage fee may apply to those under 25.

In general, you can drive your car rental in the state where you rented it and states immediately surrounding it. You are not allowed to take SIXT rental cars into Canada or Mexico.
