One of my best car rental experiences yet. Nothing was average, everything was perfect and how I hoped. Car rented was an A Class Mercedes. Carlos from Sixt called a few days later and said no A Class, 3 series BMW or Audi available, but he did find an S60 Volvo**. I wouldn't have thought of that but good choice. I think the S60 was an upgrade at no extra charge which was added plus. And they delivered! That's a good perk with the Covid situation. So we flew into San Diego Airport, walked 15 minutes to Sheraton Marina, stayed the night and next day here comes our car delivered to us! This is how it works at Sixt San Diego (this is not Sixt Airport); if you are 3.5 miles from Gas Lamp District, Sixt San Diego will delivery the car for free (the Sheraton is only 2 miles from Gas Lamp). Since the car was not ordered at Sixt San Diego Airport, there is no airport fees (about $60) and you can return to Sixt San Diego Airport on your departure. I'm going back again to San Diego and Sixt in September, thanks guys for a perfect time!
**Now for the details: If you order a luxury car from Sixt, or any rental company, ask if it's owned or leased. A leased vehicle requires a higher standard of care as the rental company has to pay the dealer for any damage...and I mean ANY damage including parking lot dings, stone chips, clear coat scratches... ANYTHING. So before you drive of, go over that car with a detailed eye, wipe over hood to check for stone chips, or just take a non luxury car. If there is any damage ensure the damage is listed on the vehicle history log
