With excellent road networks connecting a staggering diversity of countries, Europe offers incredible opportunities for car rental vacations. When traveling the breadth of Europe, you can visit cities like Paris, Lisbon, Berlin, Rome, Madrid or Athens while driving through an immense variety of landscapes and climates. While third-party coverage is included in our car rental deals it is important to understand the benefits of our comprehensive coverage options that offer added security and peace of mind.
YOUR COVERAGE OPTIONS FOR RENTAL CARS IN EUROPE
THIRD PARTY INSURANCE
Third Party Insurance in Europe will be included in your car rental. This covers you in the event of injury or damage to a third party. Be sure to check the maximum protection cover amounts for personal injuries and material damages for the specific European country you plan to rent a car in, as they vary.
LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER INCLUDING THEFT PROTECTION (LDW), PERSONAL ACCIDENT PROTECTION, TIRE AND WINDSHIELD COVERAGE, AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROTECTION (BC)
Our additional coverage options can cover you in a variety of circumstances. For instance, in case of damage to or loss of your vehicle including theft, monetary compensation in case of personal injuries, or damage to your tires and windshield. You can also get roadside protection in case of any self-inflicted breakdown such as running out of gas or key loss.
Adding an optional coverage option to your booking can bring you financial peace of mind for some, or all, of these areas, covering you when something unexpected happens.
LIMITATIONS OF COVERAGE
Be sure to check the booking page for in-depth information on the coverage for your specific country. If you’re planning to take advantage of neighboring destinations when driving across Europe, you can ask the branch manager at pick-up about any variations to your coverage in specific regions. Different territorial restrictions apply depending on your vehicle category selection and the location of your branch. If you travel outside of these areas your protection plans lose their validity.
Make sure that you always travel with the authorized driver as stated on the rental contract and that you keep your valid driver’s license with you when driving. The transportation of dangerous goods invalidates the third party insurance.
WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON YOUR RENTAL IN EUROPE
- While it is often useful to pick up from a premium location, such as an airport straight after arrival, branches outside of train stations and airports do not incur the premium location fee.
- Fill up your tank before returning your vehicle. We provide our vehicles with a full tank and if they are returned without being filled you will incur a refueling charge.
- Reserve your Sixt car rental well in advance to save money and get the best deals. You will also be more likely to get a vehicle from your chosen vehicle category.
