What should I do if there's parking damage on my SIXT rental car?

Damage, accidents and theft

Any damage to your rental car must be reported to SIXT immediately — by phone first, followed by written confirmation — regardless of how minor. This applies whether your parked car has been damaged by a third party or you have caused the damage yourself. A police report is required in all cases.

Document the damage

  • Take clear photos of all affected areas from multiple angles

  • Note the date, time, exact location and a description of what happened

  • Record the other party's details: name, licence plate number and insurance information

  • File a police report and note the incident reference number
