With SIXT share, city hopping is easy. Unlike other car sharing providers, you are not limited to your neighborhood. This is possible throughout Germany or the Netherlands, as long as the shared car is returned to one of our business areas within the country where the rental started. Simply get into the SIXT share car and drive directly from Berlin's Alexanderplatz to Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie or from Amsterdam to Rotterdam. City-to-city car sharing makes your own car unnecessary. Please note that, dropping off a SIXT share car at another city operated by SIXT share or at a nationwide SIXT station is possible at an addional fee. Alternatively, you can drop-off your SIXT share in the city it was taken from for free.  

You can find all information about car sharing from city to city in the SIXT app. Simply open the app and find a car near you. Registration is free and you can easily reserve a car sharing vehicle and drive away immediately. In SIXT share's minute-based and 1-day package, 200 km, charging / fueling and parking costs with the SIXT share business area are included.*

Use the car for 1 minute or up to 27 days. Book an hourly, daily or kilometer rate, whatever you need.

Use cases for car sharing from city to city

  • From Berlin to Hamburg: The distance is approximately 290 kilometers and can be covered in 3 to 4 hours. When traveling from city to city, an hourly package is the cheapest option.
  • From Hamburg to the Ruhr area: around 360 kilometers, should be doable in four to five hours. This time, we book a day package as a precaution, which includes 200 kilometers. This way, you can drive back to Hamburg without any time pressure.
  • From Munich to the Allgäu: It's not too far from Munich to the Allgäu. In less than two hours, you are in the middle of nature within the Bavarian mountains, forests, and lakes. Here, an hourly package makes sense, which also offers the possibility of leaving the car parked.
  • From Amsterdam to Rotterdam: The distance between Amsterdam and Rotterdam is approximately 80 kilometers. It takes about one hour to drive between the two cities, depending on traffic. Hourly package or minute-based price would make sense in this case.

Rent spontaneously and flexibly at any time on any corner. With free-floating car sharing, cars are available everywhere within our business area and parked on the street like private cars. This has the advantage that you can always spontaneously find a free vehicle in the immediate area and rent it in the SIXT app. When you’re done you can simply park the car again anywhere in the business area.

More information about car sharing:

* Germany: From €0.09/minute, 1 day package from €49/day. The Netherlands: From €0.19/minute, 1 day package from €69/day.  In addition, unlock fee starting from €1 per journey is applied, depending on the price category and country. Prices vary depending on time of day and occupancy. The included kilometers vary according to the tariff you choose. Both the minute tariff and the 1-day package include 200 km. The current prices are listed within the SIXT App.
** A financial responsibility of €950 per claim remains. This responsibility can be reduced to €450 (starting at €0.05/min) or €0 (starting at €0.08/min). Please note that the prices for our protection options vary and are dependent on the selected rental rate, vehicle category and the value of the vehicles in those categories. When booking a vehicle in the SIXT app, the correct price for the protection options will be clearly listed.
