What are the protection options available with SIXT share? The deductible per damage is generally €950. You have the option to reduce your deductible to as low as €0 by adding the corresponding protection option during the reservation in the SIXT app. We offer various protection options in Germany and the Netherlands. The prices of the protection options vary depending on the selected rental option, as well as the vehicle category and their value. The currently valid price will be displayed in the SIXT app at the time of reservation. Our tip: Save your preferred deductible for future trips and the selected protection option will be added automatically to every SIXT share trip. Good news if you're on the road for a longer period of time: There are also hourly and daily rates for protection options! This means that once you select an hourly or daily package for the vehicle, you can add the associated protection options at a discounted fixed rate. In this case, it is no longer possible to book the protection option on a per-minute basis. The best part is that you already know the cost of a protection option for the selected period before starting the trip, and you also save money compared to the usual per-minute rate. Please note that unused minutes cannot be refunded, so make the most of your hourly or daily package. After a package expires, billing is based on per-minute rates, and you can find the applicable rate for your vehicle on the price overview in the SIXT app. All information on the costs of the protection options can be found on our rate overview (link to https://www.sixt.com/share/rates/). Why do the prices of protection options vary with SIXT share? We always want to offer you the fairest price - that's why the prices of protection options vary depending on the selected vehicle category and its value. The rental duration also affects the price of protection options: while per-minute rates apply to the per-minute rate, there are discounted flat rates for hourly and daily packages. The valid protection prices for a vehicle can be seen in the SIXT app at the time of reservation. How can I book a SIXT share protection option? You can add a protection option during the reservation of your vehicle in the SIXT app by selecting the corresponding tile on the booking page. Check the box to save the selected deductible for future trips. Please note that adding a protection option is only possible before opening the vehicle. Can I use my own car insurance for using SIXT share? No, private car insurance cannot be applied to SIXT share vehicles.
