Is insurance included in my booking, and can I remove or reduce excess amounts?

IS PROTECTION INCLUDED IN MY RENTAL BOOKING?

You can find information about the included protection in the second step Customize your subscription. The level of protection is completely up to you. In the subscription configuration, you can select the protection option optimally fitting your needs.

CAN I USE MY OWN INSURANCE FOR THE RENTAL CAR?

If you provide your personal insurance policies during your application, and the policies meet the requirements you can bring your own insurance. In order to be eligible for this credit, your policies must, at a minimum, meet the following requirements:

• Fire, theft and comprehensive insurance with a maximum deductible of $500;
• Collision insurance with a maximum deductible of $500;
• Liability insurance for bodily injury or death to any one person in the amount of $100,000 and for any one accident in the amount of $300,000 or combined single limit coverage of $300,000;
• Property damage insurance for $50,000; and
• Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.
 

CAN I PURCHASE INSURANCE WHEN I RENT?

Within your SIXT+ subscription you can choose from optional products such as the loss damage waiver that will provide benefits for different types of situations you might encounter. Details about the variety of protection options can be found here, and in the rental agreement terms and conditions that are provided when you rent.

WHAT IS A LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (LDW)?

The Loss Damage Waiver reduces the financial responsibility for the rental vehicle for accidental damage or loss, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions in the Rental Information.

DOES THE LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER COVER GLASS AND TIRES?

Accidental damage to glass and tires is only included in the Loss Damage Waiver with minimum financial responsibility. Certain exclusions apply. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further details. 

WHEN WILL I BE CHARGED THE COST OF REPAIR FOR DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE?
