YOUR COVERAGE OPTIONS FOR RENTAL CARS IN SOUTH AFRICA
LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (LDW) INCLUDING THEFT PROTECTION AND THIRD PARTY INSURANCE (TI)
Third party liability is included in your rental deal and covers you for damages and personal injury to a third party. There is also Loss Damage Waiver which is sometimes included in the rates with a minimum deductible. Adding on to your loss damage waiver can significantly reduce your financial liability if you have an unfortunate accident or your vehicle is stolen. In South Africa, we have both Top Cover and Super Top Cover LDW options available and you can find the deductible figures for the various vehicle categories in the rental information on our website.
TIRE AND WINDSHIELD COVERAGE
Tire and windshield coverage comes with a zero liability in case of damage to these features.
LIMITATIONS OF COVERAGE
In South Africa, territorial restrictions apply to neighboring countries and going outside of permitted areas can invalidate your insurance. Make sure you are fully informed about the scope of your permitted travel by checking the website or asking at the branch when you pick up your rental car.
The LDW does not include your tires and windshield or other glass, so we highly recommend adding this option in case of damage. Your third party insurance is invalid in some circumstances, for example if you are transporting dangerous goods or if an unauthorized driver is using the vehicle.
