YOUR COVERAGE OPTIONS FOR RENTAL CARS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
REQUIRED COVERAGE: LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER INCLUDING THEFT PROTECTION (LDW) AND THIRD PARTY INSURANCE (TI)
In the UK, the loss damage waiver and third party insurance are already included in your Sixt car rental. You can opt for a lower liability for your LDW to have a deductible of £ 0. Our third party liability covers you for damage to third party property up to £5 million and unlimited cover in the case of the death or injury to a third party.
COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE: TIRE AND GLASS PROTECTION AND ROADSIDE PROTECTION (BC)
These coverage options are extremely useful in case of damage to your tires, windshield and windows or in case of a breakdown or loss of keys. Our tire and glass protection gives you complete cover for damage to these parts of the car. Roadside protection means that you are protected from high service and repair costs in the event of a breakdown or other incident. Opting for these protections means you can relax and enjoy your vacation knowing minor damage or a breakdown is not going to come at a great financial cost.
LIMITATIONS OF COVERAGE
The loss damage waiver with minimum excess is not available to drivers under 25 and excludes some vehicle categories. For roadside protection Sixt assumes the cost of assistance if your keys are locked in the vehicle, you run out of fuel, you have a dead battery, you lose your keys or your vehicle becomes stuck.
While much of your cover extends to trips to the European mainland, some vehicle categories come with further restrictions. If you are planning a road trip out of the United Kingdom, be sure to check your coverage options with your Sixt branch manager at pick up or online.
WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON YOUR RENTAL IN THE UK
- Book in advance to get our best deals and to get the most availability from our car rental categories.
- Fill up your tank before returning your vehicle to avoid extra fuel charges.
- If you can’t avoid areas such as London that carry a congestion charge, be sure to arrange your congestion payments before you travel to avoid any further charges. If you are picking up from a branch within a congestion zone, your charged will be covered and added to your first day’s rental costs.
