The Kentucky city experiences 34% congestion, while average wait times reach 22 minutes at restaurants and 30 minutes at attractions. The city experiences 40% traffic congestion, while restaurant and attraction wait times average 30 minutes each. What really stands out, however, is the city’s 180-minute average ER wait time, one of the longest in the study. With 205,790 searches related to wait times, Palmdale residents are clearly searching for ways to spend less time waiting and more time enjoying their day.

Methodology
To rank where individuals in the U.S. are likely to experience the longest wait times, we analyzed publicly available data across several key factors, including city congestion levels (via TomTom), restaurant and attraction wait times (via OpenTable and Yelp), public transportation availability (via AllTransit CNT), ER wait times (via Emergency Caring), and Keyword Tool search volume related to wait times within each city, gathered on May 16, 2026.
Cities with more readily available transportation options, restaurants, and attractions received higher scores, as greater availability can help reduce wait-related frustrations. To ensure a balanced and fair ranking, each factor was weighted as follows: congestion levels (20%), public transportation availability (15%), restaurant wait times (15%), attraction wait times (15%), ER wait times (15%), and keyword search volume (20%).
To prevent bias toward major cities or highly touristic destinations, we normalized metrics on both a per-capita and per-business basis, ensuring that cities were ranked based on relative demand and accessibility rather than sheer size or visitor volume. Data is correct as of May 16, 2026.
