You can book hourly, daily, and mileage packages on SIXT share exclusively through the SIXT App — select a vehicle in the "SIXT share" tab, choose your package, and tap "Open vehicle" to start.
How to book a package
- Open the SIXT App and go to the "SIXT share" tab.
- Tap the vehicle you want to reserve.
- All available packages are displayed — select your preferred one and tap "Next."
- Your free 15-minute reservation window continues while you walk to the vehicle.
- Once at the vehicle, tap "Open vehicle" to start your package.
Where to find package prices
Package prices vary by vehicle model and size. Before reserving, tap "Prices & Packages" next to the vehicle's per-minute rate to see current prices for that specific vehicle.
Changing or canceling a package before you start
As long as you haven't tapped "Open vehicle," you can change your package at any time. Tap "Configure" to update your selection. You can also upgrade to a larger package while driving using the "Configure" option.
What to know before booking a mileage package
- A mileage package can be added during the reservation process or during the rental.
- It's only valid within your booked per-minute, hourly, or daily package and doesn't carry over to a later trip.
- Any unused kilometers expire when the package ends.
Example: You book a 3-hour package with 50 included kilometers plus a mileage add-on of 50 kilometers. You drive 90 km within those 3 hours — the remaining 10 kilometers expire.
Changing or canceling a package after you start
Once you've tapped "Open vehicle," you can only upgrade to a larger package — cancellation is no longer possible.
How far in advance you can reserve a vehicle
You can reserve any vehicle for free for up to 15 minutes. To hold it longer, you can extend the reservation for a fee — up to a maximum of 12 hours, at roughly 30% of the current per-minute rate. Reservations are free on Sundays through Thursdays between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM the following day. If you don't start the rental before the reservation expires, the vehicle is released to all users.
Tracking remaining package time during your rental
The SIXT App shows how long you've been on the road, so you can calculate your remaining time at a glance. You'll also receive a push notification 30 minutes before your package expires — make sure notifications are enabled for the SIXT App. Once your package ends, the standard per-minute rate applies automatically.
Keeping the vehicle after your package expires
You can keep the vehicle for up to 27 days in total. Once your package expires, the standard per-minute rate applies automatically.
What happens if you exceed the included kilometers
Each kilometer over your package allowance is charged at the standard rate and added to your invoice automatically. If you keep the vehicle beyond the package duration, the standard per-minute rate applies and the 200 km per-trip allowance resets — but any extra kilometers driven during the package period are still charged, even if your total distance after the trip ends is under 200 km.
Example: You book a 3-hour package and keep the vehicle for 4 hours total. You drive 80 km in the first 3 hours and 70 km in the 4th hour (150 km total). Because you drove 30 km over the package allowance during the first 3 hours, those 30 km are charged at the standard rate — plus 60 minutes at the per-minute rate for the extra hour.
Refunds for unused time or kilometers
Unused minutes and kilometers can't be refunded, so it's worth planning your trip to make the most of your package.
