Your SIXT Share rental starts the moment you tap "Open" in the SIXT app — from that point, per-minute or package pricing applies. Here's everything you need to know before you drive away.
Starting your rental
Tap "Open" in the SIXT app to begin. Charges start immediately, including any extended reservation fees. Before you drive, check the vehicle for existing damage and report anything you find through the app.
How long can you rent?
You can rent a SIXT Share vehicle for up to 27 days.
Reserving a vehicle
You can reserve a vehicle for up to 15 minutes at no charge. Need more time? You can extend the reservation for a fee — up to a maximum of 12 hours. If you don't start the rental before your reservation ends, the vehicle becomes available to other users again.
Free reservation hours
Reservations are free of charge every Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning.

Ending your rental
You can only end a rental within the country where it began — either inside a SIXT Share service area or by returning the vehicle to a SIXT station.
Ending in a service area
- Park the vehicle in an authorized spot on a public street, following all local traffic regulations.
- Make sure the vehicle is parked correctly and can remain there for at least 48 hours.
- End the rental in the SIXT app.
Returning to a SIXT station
- Check the return address of your chosen station in advance.
- Follow the "Car Return" signs when you arrive.
- In the Car Return area, take the vehicle key from the glove compartment.
- End the rental in the SIXT app as usual, then lock the vehicle with the key.
- Drop the key in the key safe or hand it in at the SIXT counter.
