What documents do I need to register with SIXT, and can I hide some information?

When registering with SIXT, you can black out certain fields on your ID or passport — and a paper driver's license is accepted too.

Fields you can black out on your ID or passport

When uploading your ID card or passport, you may black out the following fields without affecting your registration:

• Card Access Number (CAN) — available on newer IDs only
• Eye color
• Height
• Ordnance or artist name
• Signature

All other fields — including your name, address, and ID number — must remain visible so SIXT can verify your identity.

Registering with a paper driver's license

To register with a paper driver's license in the SIXT App:

1. Unfold your driver's license completely.
2. Take a clear photo of both sides.
3. Submit the photos — SIXT will review your details and activate your account as soon as possible.
