The SIXT Share operating area is shown as a red boundary line in the SIXT app — you must end your rental inside this boundary, or additional fees apply.
How do I see the operating area?
Open the SIXT app and tap any SIXT Share vehicle. The red boundary line marks the operating area for that vehicle. You can also view the map for each city on the SIXT website — select the relevant product to display its specific area, since operating areas differ by product.
What do the red areas on the map mean?
Red shaded areas are outside the SIXT Share operating area. You cannot end your rental there. The app always shows you whether your destination is within the operating area before you arrive, so check before you park.
Can I drive to a different operating area?
Yes — with SIXT Share you can drive from one operating area to another within the same rental country. When ending your rental in a different operating area:
- Park in a permitted spot on a public street that complies with local traffic regulations for the next 48 hours.
- Be aware that additional fees apply. Check the full breakdown in the SIXT Share tariff overview.
How do I return my vehicle to a SIXT station?
You can return your SIXT Share vehicle to a SIXT station within the rental country. Here's how:
- Look up the return address of your chosen SIXT station in advance.
- Follow the "Car Return" signs when you arrive at the station.
- In the Car Return area, take the vehicle key from the glove compartment.
- End your rental as usual in the SIXT app, then lock the vehicle with the key.
- Drop the key in the key safe or hand it to the SIXT counter.
Additional fees apply for station returns. See the SIXT Share tariff overview for details.
