Do I receive a voucher if I refuel or charge a SIXT share car?
Yes, we reward you with a voucher for a future rental if you refuel or charge one of our vehicles. You will receive 1€ per 10%* difference in fuel / charging level. The fuel / charge level at the start of the rental and after the end of the rental is decisive for calculating the difference if the refueling / charging is started and ended during the rental. The voucher is issued automatically after the end of the rental if there is a difference of at least 10%. Percentages are always rounded off. Validity up to 3 years after the date of issue.
Applicable for electric vehicles: In case the rental is ended once the vehicle is connected to the charging station, the difference between the charge level at the start of the rental and 100% is calculated.
Sample calculation: Fuel / charge level at the start of the rental: 36%, Fuel / charge level at the end of the rental: 100%. 100%-36%= 64%. 64% are rounded off to 60%, you'll receive a voucher worth 6€.
*In the Netherlands, you will receive 1€ per 20% difference in charging level.
I have a SIXT share voucher code. How do I redeem it?
Nothing easier than that:
1) Open the Sixt app and select the SIXT share tab, then select a vehicle on the map and expand the menu to view the vehicle details.
2) Next, scroll down and select “+ Add voucher” to enter your voucher code.
As an alternative, you can also open the "Account" tab and add your voucher code within "Vouchers & Benefits".
It is possible to save several vouchers in the app. To use your voucher, please activate it after you reserve a car and before beginning your journey.
Can I use my SIXT share voucher internationally?
No, SIXT share vouchers can only be redeemed in the country, where they have been issued. In the app, you will only be able to select those vouchers, that are valid in our rental country, all others are greyed out and can't be selected.
How do I book an hourly, daily or kilometer package?
Hourly, daily and kilometer packages can only be booked via the SIXT app. Tap on the "share" tab and click on the desired vehicle to start the booking process. You will then see all available packages. Select your preferred package and click “next”. While you are making your selection, we will hold the car for you, free of charge, for 15 minutes. Before the 15 minutes are up, go to the vehicle and unlock it using the app. Your package starts when you tap on "Open vehicle" in the app.
Where can I find the cost of packages for my desired vehicle?
At SIXT share you will find a selection of different vehicle models and sizes. The prices for the hourly and daily packages vary according to the vehicle you have selected and are displayed in the app. Before reserving a car, simply click on [i] below the minute price of the selected vehicle in order to see the current package prices.
I have booked a package but have not yet started the rental. Can I still change or cancel the package?
No problem. Booked packages can be changed or cancelled at any time up to the start of the journey or before clicking on "Open vehicle". Simply open the vehicle details, click on "Prices & Protection" and change your existing selection.
I have booked a package and the rental has already started. Can I still change or cancel the package?
No, it is not possible to cancel or change the booked package after the start of the trip, i.e. by clicking on "Open vehicle".
I would like to book a package in the coming days. How far in advance is this possible?
As usual, you can reserve a vehicle for 15 minutes free of charge. You can extend your reservation for a maximum of 12 hours for a fee. The extended reservation costs about 30% of the current minute price. Reserving a car is free of charge Sunday through Thursday, between 10pm and 6am the following morning. Please note that the vehicle will be released for all users again if you do not start the rental before the reservation expires.
Can I leave the business area while using a package?
Sure, trips outside the business area and to other countries are possible according to the General T&C. However, the trip can only be ended within the business area.
How do I know how long my package is still valid during the journey?
During the journey, the app shows you how long you have been on the road so that you can easily calculate the time remaining. 15 minutes before the booked package expires you will receive a push notification with a corresponding note. Of course you can keep the vehicle beyond the duration of the booked package, in which case you will pay a minute price of 0,28 € / minute or the maximum capped daily price that was displayed in the app at the time of reservation.
I would like to keep the vehicle longer than the duration of the booked package. Is that possible?

Are there any additional costs if I exceed the number of kilometers included in the package? What happens to the included kilometers if I keep the vehicle beyond the duration of the booked package?
Our system automatically detects how many kilometers you drive during the duration of the booked package. Each additional kilometer is calculated at the usual price (link to the tariff page) and added to the invoice amount.
If you keep the vehicle beyond the duration of the booked package, please note that the usual 200 kilometers per trip are included again only after the package expires. This means that you will be charged for any additional kilometers that you drive during the package, even if you have driven less than 200 km at the end of the trip.
Example 1: You book a 3-hour package and keep the vehicle for 4 hours. You drive 100 km in the first 3 hours and another 70 km in the 4th hour, for a total of 170 km. As you have driven 20 km more than what was included in the package, you will be charged for 20 additional kilometers plus an additional 60 minutes based on the minute price at the time of vehicle reservation.
I have not used my package completely. Will I be refunded the difference?
Unfortunately, we cannot refund unused minutes or kilometers afterwards, so make the best possible use of your package.
Which kilometer packages are available?
We currently offer up to five add-on packages for customers that need additional mileage: 50 km, 100 km, 150 km, 250 km and 500 km. All packages guarantee savings for our customers in comparison to the standard rate (electric cars: 0.34€/km, cars with combustion engines: 0.45€/km).
Example: In addition to your 1-day package with 200 kilometers included, you decide to add a package for an additional 250 km. This package costs 84€ - meaning that the price per kilometer, including fuel and electricity, drops to 0.34€/km. Without a booked package, you would pay 112.5€ for the additional 250 km. In this scenario, you save 28.5€ (25%).
What should I keep in mind when considering a kilometer package?
Kilometer packages can only be added during the reservation process. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to add a package after the start of your journey. Please note that kilometer packages are only valid during your booked period of time (i.e. minute based booking or hourly/daily package). Any remaining mileage will expire at the end of your booking and cannot be transferred to subsequent journeys.
Example: You book a 3-hour package, which includes 80 km, and a package for an additional 50 m. If you only drive 120 km during the 3-hour period, the remaining 10 km expire.
How is the rental price calculated?
The price is calculated dynamically and depends, among other things, on the time and place of the rental and the vehicle model. Before the journey, you can see the applicable price per minute and the prices of the available packages in the app. The price for an extended reservation is approximately 30% of the current minute price and amounts to a maximum of € 0.12 per minute. For longer journeys, take advantage of our attractive hourly, daily and kilometre packages by booking the desired package before starting the journey. At special drop-off points (e.g. airport), additional separate charges apply. These can be found on our price overview.
How many kilometers are included?
For SIXT share journeys in Germany, the standard, per minute rates include 200 km for cars with a combustion engine and 50 km for electric cars. In the Netherlands, each journey includes 200 km. When booking an hourly or daily package, the number of included kilometers depends on the selected duration of your package. In this case, the included mileage will be clearly displayed while booking. When finalizing their booking, customers can add a kilometer package if additional mileage is needed. In all cases, once the included mileage has been used, each additional kilometer will cost 0.34€.
Example: You book a 3-hour package which includes 80 km. As a supplement, you have chosen to add a kilometer package for an additional 50 km. This means you can now drive 130 km within the booked 3-hour period. You can find a full overview of our rates on our website.
