Fastest route from Tampa to Miami

The drive from Tampa to Miami covers 280 miles and typically takes about four hours. The route starts out on the Selmon Expressway, a tolled road, expressway and links you to Interstate 75. At Naples the road sets off toward the east, cutting through the Everglades, and this section is commonly known as Alligator Alley. 

Scenic route from Tampa to Miami

If you have the time consider getting from Tampa to Miami along a more scenic route which could take you through St. Petersburg and along US Route 41, closer to the Gulf of Mexico coastline. If you ever want to save time you can always hop back on the I-75 to shorten the journey. The Tamiami Trail section of US 41 is a highly recommended alternative to the Everglades Expressway.
