Amongst the most famous attractions is Tivoli, the more than 100 year old amusement park inthe heart of the city. Boys and girls of all ages will be amazed to see what the old gardens has to offer, and come night time when the thousands of lights come on you won't believe your eyes. Tip: Buy a tour-armband, giving you limitless rides on every rollercoaster, carrousel etc.
By Langelinie harbour you'll find the world famous statue of
The Little Mermaid. Every yearthousands of people stop by the beautiful lady from the sea, who was originally a figure from Hans Christian Andersen's wonderful fairy tale. Some are amazed by how small she actually is, she is notStatue of Liberty size, but once you see her you won't care. Surrounded by historical buildings, a park, and the harbour, she is a must see. Tip: When the tide is low, you can walk on the stones straight out to the statue for a great picture.
Denmark is the home of the oldest monarchy in the world. So off course one of Copenhagen's top attractions is the beautiful rococo palace, Amalienborg, home of the royal family. You can actually walk straight up to the front door of the palace, and it is a common sight that a member of the royal family takes a walk around Copenhagen, or sails away from the pier in Amaliehaven the magnificent public park right next to the castle. Amalie haven was donated by Maersk, the danish shipping company who has their worldwide headquarters located only a few hundred meters from the royal castle. Tip: When the flag is hoisted on top of the building as well as beside the royal guards, this means that the queen, H.R.H Queen Margrethe II, is home.
