Bilbao is an important city in this region of Spain. As the capital of the Basque region it has a culture and identity that differs from the rest of Spain. Many visitors come to this city to visit the excellent museums and art galleries it has to offer. The Guggenheim Museum, which is reachable by car, is a must-see both in terms of the building itself and the pieces of art inside. Frank Gehry designed the building which was opened in 1997 and the art on display is generally contemporary. Although the museum doesn't have a parking lot, there are plenty of spaces available in the public parking lots nearby. Another popular attraction is the Fine Arts Museum which houses works by Basque and Spanish artists and sculptors. The Gran Via is a great road to take a drive down and have a look at the various shops. If you have some time left after seeing what Bilbao has to offer then take a trip in the car to see the famous town of Pamplona which is, of course, known for the bull-run. The journey should take less than two hours to get there.
