Gdansk is one of the most attractive cities in Poland. The restored old town is a highlight, but visitors also flock to the former Lenin shipyards, birthplace of the Solidarity movement. Several central hotels in Gdansk offer their guests parking facilities, including secure underground parking for rental cars. This allows convenient access to the compact old town, with its dramatic attractions of the Dlugi Targ square, the Great Mill of the Teutonic Knights and the largest brick church in the world, St Mary's. In the evenings, the riverbank is transformed to accomodate flea-markets, snack bars and sightseeing strolls. Car rental allows visitors to explore the greater city and its surrounding area with ease. A popular excursion out of Gdansk is the short drive to the fashionable seafront resort of Sopot, with its smart galleries, beachfront bars, restaurants and summer music festivals. A Sixt rental car will also be ideal for exploring further afield from Gdansk or visiting resorts along the evocative and enticing Baltic coast.
