Driver Company Portal and Driver App Analytics Notice

This Driver Company Portal and Driver App Analytics Notice (“Analytics Notice”) informs Service Providers and their Drivers about the analytical technologies which Sixt ride processes and the purposes for which this is carried out in the following. In particular, Sixt ride will inform the Service Providers and their Drivers about the technologies and providers used, as well as the available opt-out options.

This notice applies to the processing of personal data in the Driver Company Portal’s website and the Driver App, which is currently offered for iOS and Android (hereinafter also referred to as the ”Tools”). Please note that separate notices with different responsibilities may apply to data processing within the scope of our websites. You will be made aware of such separate notices at the time this data is collected.

Sixt ride uses the technologies described here to analyse user behaviour and evaluate the associated data. These technologies help us to optimise and continuously develop our Tools. These processes are carried out anonymously or using pseudonyms, but never directly in relation to individuals. Service Providers and Drivers can deactivate the app analytics centrally in the app at any time (under Account  -> Settings -> App Analytics).

All capitalized terms used but not defined in this Analytics Notice shall have the meaning given to them in the SIXT ride Privacy Policy for Service Providers and Drivers.

A. Firebase

The Sixt ride’s Tools use Firebase, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland for users in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Liechtenstein and by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (collectively referred to as "Google") for all other users. Firebase offers a variety of functions - including crash reporting analysis, usage analysis, app appearance customisation, and messaging.  This enables us to track, for example, how many users opened the Tools for the first time in a given period of time, how often the Driver App was uninstalled, or the possible causes of crashes. By means of the messaging function, we can send app messages (known as push messages) or in-app messages (messages which are only displayed within the Tools) to devices. Some Firebase functions process personal data.  In most cases, the personal data is limited to so-called “instance IDs”, which are provided with a time stamp Firebase’s instance IDs are unique and thus allow the linking of different events or processes. In addition, identifiers for mobile devices (including Android Advertising ID or Advertising Identifier for iOS) and cookie-like technologies are used to run the usage data analysis. Please see Google's Privacy Polic and Google's privacy and security notices in Firebase.

B: Google Analytics

Sixt ride’s Tool uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (”Google“). According to Google, the contact for all data protection issues is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The purpose of using Google Analytics is to analyse the use of Sixt ride’s Tools, to regularly improve it and thus be able to operate it more economically. Google Analytics uses identifiers (known as IDs) which are stored on mobile devices and enable an analysis of the use of the app.  The information generated by means of IDs about the use of the app is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, the IP address is shortened before the usage statistics are evaluated so that no conclusions can be drawn about the Service Provider’s or Driver’s identity.  Google will process this information to evaluate the use of the Tools, compile reports on app activity and provide Sixt ride with other services relating to app usage and internet usage. Please see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's terms of use as well as Google's supplementary information on data protection for more information.

C: Google Maps

The Tools use Google Maps interfaces (known as API applications), which are provided for users from the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Liechtenstein by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland and for all other users by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (collectively referred to as "Google"). In particular, the use of Google Maps serves to show the Users the appropriate map of the area, as well as provide them with features that provide them with a better user-experience of the Sixt Platform, including smoother pick-up, booking request matching and information on estimated time of arrival. These applications are necessary for the technical operation of the app, therefore the above-mentioned opt-out option does not result in the disabling of the functions. The use of Google Maps functions is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and the Additional  Terms of Use for Google Maps.

D: Instana

Sixt driver app uses instana tool for data tracking. Instana is an application performance management software which is used to monitor the user systems and detect app failures, slowness in application thereby helping to fix the problems quickly. Please see Instana's Privacy Policy for more information.

E: Adjust/Data lake

Sixt driver app uses Adjust which is a mobile analytics service. The data that being collected by the use of this service is app usage data, unique device identifier and application data. The data is being collected for analytics and app optimisation purposes. The data once collected is sent to a data lake for transformation to further derive insights and to make complex decisions quickly. Please see Adjust Privacy Policy for more information.
