Rental Information

The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license, which must be presented at time of the rental.

Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) must be complemented by an International driving license.

For rentals more than one month, an International driving license have to be presented.

Sixt supports Chinese customers with the necessary translations via Sixt WeChat Account or via following link: Link. This or any other kind of valid translation of the driving license can only be accepted if accompanied by the original driving license.

The renter and the authorized drivers must present their driving license, a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.

Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

In Tunisia, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

A Young Driver Surcharge applies for drivers under 24 years.

The following credit cards are accepted: all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa. American Express as well as any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron) are not accepted. The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card.

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.

Changing booking

A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability and Tunifleet CAR Rental SA approval) in return for a booking modification fee of 29,75 EUR. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.

Cancellation

A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of booking can be completed free of charge, provided the scheduled pick-up time is more than 48 hours away.

No-show

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with an unlimited cover for personal injuries and material damages.

Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection, as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driving license at the time of the event.

Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

If LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 1,300.00 EUR (MDMR) 1,400.00 EUR (EDAR, EDMR) 1,500.00 EUR (CDAR)

Excluded from the coverage are damages on tyres and windows.

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) with reduced excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 700.00 EUR (MDMR) 800.00 EUR (EDAR, EDMR) 900.00 EUR (CDAR)

By taking out personal accident protection (PAP) coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.

Personal Accident Protection covers the customer and/or Authorized Driver and each passenger up to the legal passenger capacity of the vehicle for medical expenses, hospitalization and ambulance expenses, resulting from an accident. PAP includes up to a total of 50,000.00 TND for the authorized driver (around 14,800 EUR depending on the exchange rate on the day of the accident) and 10,000 TND per passenger (around 2,960 EUR depending on the exchange rate on the day of the accident).

The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.

If the protection is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for the full extent of the damage.

Fire insurance provides structural coverage against specific thermal damage to the rental vehicle in accordance with applicable Tunisian law. Coverage is subject to the conditions set out below.

Covered Damage Fire insurance applies to the following causes of damage: - Fires resulting from engine short-circuits, wiring faults or overheating components - Fire damage caused directly by a road accident, collision or external explosion - Damage from lightning, spreading external fires or associated smoke - Fire damage resulting from arson or criminal acts by a third party, subject to the filing of a formal incident report

Conditions of Coverage Coverage is only valid if the lessee fulfils the following obligations: - The police or National Guard must be contacted immediately. A formal police report (constat) must be filed within 24 to 48 hours of the incident. - The original vehicle keys and registration document (carte grise) must be returned to the rental agency upon vehicle return. Failure to meet either condition may result in the lessee being held liable for the full value of the vehicle.

Exclusions Fire insurance does not cover the following: - Deductible The lessee remains liable for the deductible amount stated in the rental contract, unless an optional excess waiver has been purchased. - Driver negligence Damage caused by the driver's own actions, including burns from smoking or use of incorrect fuel, is charged in full to the lessee. - Personal belongings Luggage, clothing, and personal electronic devices are excluded. Coverage applies to the rental vehicle only.

The mobility service is an extended breakdown cover during the rental and protects against high service fees and repair costs in the following self-caused events, within national territory and on authorised travel abroad: key locked inside the vehicle, loss of keys, getting stuck, jump start in the event of an empty battery and breakdown due to lack of fuel or electricity.

All services may only be ordered by a direct claim with Sixt 24-hour Roadside Assistance. They shall also determine the type and extent of service required to ensure the renter stays mobile. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is not covered by Sixt within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.

Roadside protection is provided 24/7 (365 days).

Tunisian customs regulations and standard rental policies strictly forbid driving a Tunisian-registered rental car across international borders into Algeria or Libya.

One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Tunisa are allowed under conditions depending on tarif.

International One-Way Rentals are not allowed.

In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.

Baby seats and child seats are available subject to a fee.

Deliveries and collections within a radius of no more than 30 km are available at the local rental station subject to a fee. Deliveries and collections beyond this radius will be subject to a special request.

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

This is a mandatory administrative tax imposed by the Tunisian government on the issuance of any legal invoice or commercial receipt. It is fixed and does not depend on the rental duration or vehicle type.

This is a state tax applied to commercial transport and tourism-related contracts in Tunisia.

In case the car requires additional cleaning (for example as a result of food, drink and other stains and marks, animal fur, mud, dirt, sand, smoke or tobacco product damage or smell), a cleaning charge will apply.

All Sixt cars are non-smoking cars. If a car needs additional cleaning/smell-removal caused by smoking, a fee will be added to the invoice.

Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occurring during the rental.

If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental, the renter will be charged an Administration Fee together with the first settlement-proposition.

A Loss Of Key Fee applies.

A Loss of Vehicle Document Fee applies.

A Contract Fee applies on all rentals.
