Rental Information

The lessee and the driver must be in possession of a full, valid driver's license for at least 1 year and present it together with an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence. EU Driving Licences Valid driving licences of all EU countries are accepted.

All Other Licences Driver's license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by a valid International Driving Permit.

Sixt supports Chinese customers with the necessary translations via Sixt WeChat Account or via following link: Link. This or any other kind of valid translation of the driving license can only be accepted if accompanied by the original driving license.

Drivers also need an international driver's license, if the driver doesn't have a driver's license issued by one of the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guyana, Hungary, Iceland, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, The Netherlands, Niger, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Republic of Cabo Verde, Romania, Russian Federation, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, North Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zimbabwe.

Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

In Slovakia, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

A surcharge applies for young drivers under 23 years.

All credit cards of internationally recognized companies such as American Express, Eurocard / Mastercard, Visa and Airplus are accepted as payment methods. For Mini, Economy, Compact and Intermediate class rentals, debit cards are also accepted. Prepaid cards such as VISA Electron are not accepted. The card must be in the name of the driver, who must be present when the vehicle is picked up and show the card that the plant is made. The amount to be charged includes the rental price and all additional charges.

Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.

Cash Payment is not accepted.

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.

Changing booking

Changing Booking A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 20,17 EUR. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.

Cancellation

A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of booking can be completed free of charge, provided the scheduled pick-up time is more than 48 hours away.

No-show

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the reservation will be cancelled and the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a unlimited cover for personal injuries and material damages.

Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) with reduced excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 400.00 EUR (M***, ECMR) 550.00 EUR (ECAR, C***) 600.00 EUR (I***) 700.00 EUR (S***) 950.00 EUR (F***) 1,000.00 EUR (P***) 1,300.00 EUR (L***, X***)

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 EUR

By taking out personal accident protection the protection can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.

By taking out PAP the limit of liability is 23,256.00 EUR for permanent incapacity to work, 46,512.00 EUR for accidental death, 34,883.00 EUR for accidental permanent detriment to health, 4,651.00 EUR for reimbursement of costs of plastic surgery, 4,651.00 EUR for reimbursement of costs of repair and purchase of prostheses as well as protective and auxiliary measures, 46.00 EUR as daily hospital allowance.

By taking out insurance protection for the interior, liability in the event of soil or damage to the vehicle interior can be reduced to a predetermined deductible or eliminated.

The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.

If the protection is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for the full extent of the damage.

Our Roadside Protection is an extended breakdown protection during the car rental in Slovakia and protects the contract holder against high service and repair costs for the following incidents: key locked in vehicle, breaking caused by lack of fuel, assistance with starting necessitated by flat battery, loss of key and vehicle stuck.

All services may only be ordered by a direct claim with Sixt 24-hours Roadside Assistance. If any damage on the rental vehicle occurs, which is not covered by Sixt within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the rentee is liable for such damage.

Roadside protection is provided by Sixt 24-hours Roadside Assistance.

If the vehicle is returned with damage not covered by the purchased product limiting liability, the Rentee shall bear the cost of repairing the vehicle according to the repair estimate presented by the Renter.

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Audi vehicles may not be taken into: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia (does not apply to SVMR and XVAR).

For trips abroad, an additional fee is charged. All trips abroad are to be requested at the Sixt station. In case of a one-way rental to one of the above mentioned countries, the foreign use charge applies in addition to the one-way fee.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Slovakia are allowed under conditions depending on tarif.

International one-way-rentals are only allowed for selected countries, depending on the current tarif.

In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.

A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.

Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available subject to a fee.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise the current prices per litre of petrol or diesel will be charged in addition to a refuelling fee.

If desired, the vehicle will be refuled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station.

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

Alternatively, you may book a tanking service for a fee and return the tank empty. The refueled liters will be charges at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations additionaly to the prior noted tanking service fee.

Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.

Bluetooth is available subject to a fee.

During the period of November 1st until March 31st winter tyres are mandatory in Slovakia and will be charged. It includes amongst others tires suitable for winter conditions and ice scraper.

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

Smoking is prohibited.

If a parking ticket is lost, the customer shall bear the cost of issuing a duplicate ticket. If it is not possible to issue a duplicate ticket, the customer shall bear the cost of the lost ticket.

The rentee is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occurring during the rental.

The rentee who is not a consumer will be charged an administrative fee for indicating user data to the authority.

In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. smell removal, animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a cleaning charge will apply.

Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement. If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on +421911833133, via E-Mail at sixt@sixt.sk or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.

If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.

When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.

If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you EUR 12.00 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.

If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of EUR 20.16 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance. With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.

All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs). For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.
