Rental Information

Driving Licence Requirements The lessee and the driver must be in possession of a full, valid driving licence for at least 2 years and present this together with an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence. EU Driving Licences Valid driving licences of all EU countries are accepted All Other Licences Driving Licences printed with non-Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, and Cyrillic) must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit.

Sixt supports Chinese customers with the necessary translations via Sixt WeChat Account or via following link: Link. This or any other kind of valid translation of the driving license can only be accepted if accompanied by the original driving license.

Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 21 years (having held the driving license for at least 2 years). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle. In North Macedonia, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

A Young Driver Surcharge applies for drivers under 23 years.

All credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, Master card, Visa, and following debit cards (American Express, Master card, Visa Maestro) are acceptable as payment methods, The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver. This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time.

Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card/Debit Card.

Cash Payment is accepted in combination with a valid Credit, Debit Card.

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

To hire one of the following groups, customers must present two credit cards: X***, P***, L***

Deposit is mandatory at collection, even in case of prepaid rental. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle (amount of the rental cost and the excess applicable). Different amounts are possible. If there is a new damage on the rented vehicle at the time of drop off, the deposit (in amount of liability per chosen car group) will be witheld.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.

Changing Booking A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 20,00 EUR. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.

Cancellation

A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of booking can be completed free of charge, provided the scheduled pick-up time is more than 48 hours away.

No-show In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

A police record is obligatory for all protections. In case that the driver does not ensure police presence or a police record, the full amount for the damage and/or theft will be charged to the driver irrespective of the kind of the purchased protection.

Protection coverage for the vehicle includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of 50,000.00 EUR for personal injuries and material damages. Protection coverage is limited to Europe only.

Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

If LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 750.00 EUR (MBMR, MCMR, MDAR, ECMR, EDMR, EDAR) 1,000.00 EUR (CDMR, CDAR, CLMR, CLAR, CPAR, CWMR, CWAR, CCCC, CFMR, CFAR, CFAE, IFMR) 2,000.00 EUR (IDMR, IDAR, ILAR, SDMR, SDAR, SFMR, SFAR, FDMR, FDAR, FCAR, FCCC, FFMR, FFAR, FFAH, PFAR, LFAR, SVMR, FVMR, FVAR, SPMR, PDMR, LDAR, LLAR)

Excluded from the coverage are damages on tyres and windows.

If LDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) with reduced excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 350.00 EUR (MBMR, MCMR, MDAR, ECMR, EDMR, EDAR) 500.00 EUR (CDMR, CDAR, CLMR, CLAR, CPAR, CWMR, CWAR, CCCC, CFMR, CFAR, CFAE, IFMR) 750.00 EUR (IDMR, IDAR, ILAR, SDMR, SDAR, SFMR, SFAR, SPMR, FDMR, FDAR, FCAR, FCCC, FFMR, FFAR, FFAH, PFAR, LFAR, SVMR, FVMR, FVAR, PDMR, LDAR, LLAR)

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess to eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 EUR

Tire and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows, backwindow, mirror glass, wheel covers and rims.

If GT is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow. If GT is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 EUR

By taking out personal accident protection can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.

By taking out PAP the limit of liability is: 8,000.00 EUR for invalidity, 4,000.00 EUR for decease, medical costs are included in the above amount.

Thanks to the interior protection, liability can be reduced to a predetermined deductible or eliminated if the vehicle interior is soiled or damaged.

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Kosovo, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia and Montenegro, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.

A written permission issued by the Sixt branch is mandatory to cross the border.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

For travels abroad, additional charges may apply per country and are governed by the respective country of entry and must be requested at the local rental station.

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability. During the period of November 15th until March 15th snow tyres are mandatory in North Macedonia and will be charged.

One-Way Rentals within Sixt locations in North Macedonia are free of charge (except from Skopje to Ohrid Airport).

International one-way-rentals are only allowed for selected countries, depending on the current tarif.

In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.

If Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is booked, we guarantee that the renter receives a car with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto compatibility. Possibly required high grade data cable to connect the phone and the car is not provided by SIXT.

A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.

Baby seats and child seats are available subject to a fee.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise the current prices per litre of petrol or diesel will be charged in addition to a refuelling fee.

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.

Delivery/Collection Service within city limits is free of charge.

This service is available on request for an additional commitment fee outside opening times at selected locations.

Wi-Fi is available subject to a fee.

Winter tires are available at a suitable fee. In addition, snow chains are optionally available.

By choosing the driver service a Sixt driver will be supplied for 9 consecutive hours per day in the business hours. Additional hours and services outside business hours are available at the local branch. The customer remains liable for the condition of the vehicle except when the vehicle is physically moved by the Sixt driver.

Driver services are available within respective city limits and any trip outside the city limits will need to be coordinated with the Sixt location in advance. Additional charges for leaving the city limits may arise and will be charged extra locally. Please contact the local branch for more information.

The roadside protection is an extended breakdown protection during the rental and protects you against high service and repair costs for the following incidents caused by you: key locked in vehicle, breaking caused by lack of fuel, assistance with starting necessitated by flat battery, loss of key and vehicle stuck. Exclusions: Cost of fuel, battery, keys and tires themselves are not included. Roadside protection and assistance conditions are not valid and applicable outside North Macedonian borders.

SIXT North Macedonia can provide a fast roadside assistance within 3 hours from the moment of receiving a notification. All services may only be ordered by a direct claim with Sixt 24-hour Roadside Assistance (phone +38975448902). They shall also determine the type and extent of service required to ensure the renter stays mobile. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is not covered by Sixt within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.

In case Roadside protection is not accepted SIXT North Macedonia provide you roadside assistance within 24 hours and administrative expenses for providing road assistance will apply to your Rental agreement.

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee together with the first settlement-proposition.

The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occuring during the rental.

(Fine Handling Fee = FI)

A Lost Of Key Fee applies.

In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. smell removal, animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a cleaning charge will apply.

Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement. If your plans change during your hire period, let us know at least 2 hours in advance by e-mail (reservations@sixt.com.mk) or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.

If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.

When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.

If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you EUR 11.80 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.

If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of EUR 18.88 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance. With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.

All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs). For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.
