Rental Information

The driver must be in possession of a valid driving licence and present it together with an identity card or passport when receiving the vehicle. If the main lessee is not the driver, a valid identity card from the lessee and an identity card and driving licence from the driver will be required. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.

EU Driving Licences Valid driving licences of all EU countries as well as Switzerland and United Kingdom are accepted. All Other Licences Driving Licences from countries not listed above and licences printed with non-Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, and Cyrillic) must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit. In case of vehicle damage or a police check, presentation of a valid International Driving Permit is mandatory.

Driver's licenses issued in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau are not accepted by Czech Republic authorities under the Vienna or Geneva Conventions on Road Traffic. Sixt Czech Republic cannot accept these licenses for car rental.

Please show a valid driver's license and identity card/ passport at time of pick up!

Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

Customer acknowledges that cars are equipped with monitoring and communication safety units.

Important: Invalid or missing documents will result in a 100% re-invoicing of all costs in the event of vehicle damage.

Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 18 years. A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle. In Czech Republic, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

The groups MCMN, MBME, MTMR ECME, ECMR, and EDMR are also bookable for age 17 and 6 months of driving license possession, but only with an accompanying person who meets the original driving license requirements (please contact reservation@sixt.cz).

Drivers aged 70 years or above must show medical certificate (in English) that driver is competent to drive. Otherwise any protection is not valid and the driver is liable for the car in full amount (excess 100%).

A fee may be applied for drivers above 70 years (for all car groups) .

An extra fee must be paid by drivers under 21 years of age for all car groups and by drivers under 23 years of age for car groups ILMR, ILAR, IWMR, IWAR, IVMR, SDMR, FDMR, PDMR, SDAR, FDAR, PDAR, FWMR, CWAR, FWAR, IVMR, SVMR, FVMR, IVAR, SVAR, FVAR, SFMR, FFMR, SFAR, RFAR, FFAR, GFAR, PDMR, PDAR.

All credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, JCB, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa are acceptable as payment methods. Debit cards (excl. VISA Electron and Maestro) and relevant mobile phone payment methods connected with bank cards are accepted. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver (applicable for prepaid reservations). This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time.

Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.

Cash Payment is not accepted.

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.

Changing Booking A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 509,50 CZK. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.

Cancellation

A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of CZK 100 Mill for personal injuries and material damages.

Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) reduces the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

Damages to the equipment of the vehicle, key, wheel hubs, tyres and wheel damages are not covered by any protection and will be charged to the renter.

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) is accepted, the customer is only responsible for the following amounts:

If LDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess is not offered on the XFAR, XDAR, XTMR car groups.

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess to reduce/eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 CZK

Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess is not offered on the XFAR, XTAR, XDAR, XTMR, XXAX car groups.

By choosing personal accident protection can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.

By taking "I" the limit of liability is: 100,000.00 CZK for invalidity, 100,000.00 CZK for decease. No cover for medical costs.

Tire and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows, back window, mirror glass, wheel covers and rims with a deductible of 500 CZK.

If the protection is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for the full extent of the damage.

Thanks to the interior protection, liability can be reduced to a predetermined deductible or eliminated if the vehicle interior is soiled or damaged.

The mobility service is an extended breakdown cover during the rental and protects against high service fees and repair costs in the following self-caused events, within national territory and on authorised travel abroad: key locked inside the vehicle, getting stuck, jump start in the event of an empty battery and breakdown due to lack of fuel or electricity.

1) Key locked in vehicle: In the event of the key is locked inside the vehicle, Sixt shall cover the costs for the vehicle to be opened by the manufacturer or one of its partners, or for the vehicle to be towed away.

2) Breakdown caused by lack of fuel: In the event of a breakdown due to running out of fuel, Sixt shall cover the costs for breakdown assistance (fuel delivery). The value of the fuel will be charged to the customer. Risks related to refuelling with the wrong or low-quality fuel or other liquids provided by the renter/driver are not covered.

3) Flat battery assistance: In the event of assistance is required due to flat battery, Sixt shall cover the costs for assistance by the vehicle manufacturer or one of its partners.

4) Loss of key: In the event of a lost key, Sixt shall cover the costs for providing a spare key, transporting/shipping the spare key, or towing the vehicle away. The costs for exchanging the car locks for security reasons are not covered.

5) Vehicle stuck: In the event of the vehicle cannot be moved (e.g. due to wintery road conditions) Sixt shall cover the costs for towing the vehicle away.

All services may only be ordered by a direct claim with Sixt 24-hour Roadside Assistance (only CZ contact in the DriverSet in the car). They shall also determine the type and extent of service required to ensure the renter stays mobile. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is not covered by Sixt within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.

Roadside protection is provided 24/7 (365 days).

Cross Border Rentals are allowed for a fee to the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

Cross Border Rentals for car groups: EDMR, CLMR, CFMR, CLAR, CFAR, CWMR, CWAR are for a fee allowed to: Albania, Bosna and Hercegovina, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia and the United Kingdom. In any case, these countries cannot be driven with premium car brands (e.g. Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Range Rover) regardless of the car group.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

For travels abroad, additional charges may apply and are governed by the respective country of entry and must be requested at the local rental station.

Upon request, you can order a car handover or car drop-off service at Terminal 3 for a fee plus parking fees.

Extras are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Czech Republic are allowed under conditions depending on tarif.

All international One-Way Rentals are on request. Please contact the local rental station.

In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

Navigation systems and Android Auto / Apple Car Play are available subject to a fee.

A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.

All types of child seats are available and subject to a fee. Please request the required seat type in advance.

If the vehicle has not been returned in a completely refuelled state, and if you have not booked the "Prepaid fuel" or "Flexi fuel" extras, Sixt will charge you the fees in accordance with the tariffs applicable upon rental, for the fuelling of the vehicle and for fuel. The respectively valid tariffs are available at the Sixt branches.

Prepaid fuel: You can purchase the "Prepaid fuel" extra at the comparable fuel station price and thereby return the vehicle without a full fuel tank. In this case, you will not be charged any additional refuelling costs in accordance with the above paragraph. Please note that unused fuel will not be reimbursed.

Flexi Fuel: Subject to availability at the respective branch, you can book our "Flexi Fuel" at the specified price and thereby return the vehicle without a full fuel tank. In this case, you will only be charged for the subsequently fuelled litres of fuel at comparable fuel station prices, in addition to the above-mentioned fee.

Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.

During the period of November 1st until March 31, Winter equipment is subject to a fee as mandantory.

A replacement car (1-2 categories lower) will be provided for up to 5 days (120 hours) within the European Union. This service is available if the replacement car guarantee fee has been paid in advance and covers the cost of repatriating the vehicle. If the immobility is caused by a manufacturing defect or negligence on the part of SIXT, the replacement vehicle will be provided at no additional charge. In all other cases, including incidents caused by the renter, the cost of the replacement vehicle is the renter's responsibility. Roadside Assistance will inform you of the replacement vehicle's availability and applicable charges when needed.

Highways and expressways in the Czech Republic are subject to toll charges. With Toll service fee we will equip the vehicle with a valid electronic motorway vignette in accordance with Czech legislation. For travel outside the Czech Republic, toll regulations and charges of the respective country apply and are not included in the rental price.

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

A key replacement fee applies in the event of lost keys or if the door locks must be replaced in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions. The fee will be charged based on the actual costs determined by an authorised repair centre. A car documentation loss will apply in the event of lost vehicle documents.

If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee together with the first settlement-proposition.

The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occurring during the rental.

A Damage Administration Fee applies if the rented vehicle is involved in an accident or sustains damage. This fee covers the administrative costs of processing the damage, including documentation, handling insurance claims, and coordinating repairs.

This fee is used to cover the costs that SIXT pays for vehicle registration, license fees, and related fees for a rental. It ensures that the car is legally allowed to be driven on public roads and is properly documented.

This fee covers the mandatory vehicle registration and road usage tax. It is required by law for all vehicles and contributes to road maintenance and infrastructure.

In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. smell removal, animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a cleaning charge will apply.

In the event of a traffic violation during the rental period, the renter is obliged to pay the fine plus Traffic administration fee of 750 CZK.

Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement. If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on +420 22 23 24 995 or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.

If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days. If you inform us upfront about your change of plans, we will not charge you for early return.

When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.

If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you 320.65 CZK service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.

If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of 514.25 CZK if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance. With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.

All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs). For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.
