What's the difference between my SIXT return receipt and the final invoice?

Standard return

The return receipt is an overview of the vehicle's condition recorded at the time of return — mileage, fuel level and any existing damage. It is not the final invoice. The tax-relevant final invoice will be sent by email within 48 hours and will include all rental charges incurred.

What the return receipt shows

  • Return date, time and mileage/odometer reading

  • Fuel level at return

  • Any newly recorded vehicle damage, where applicable

What the final invoice may include

  • Fuel charges if the vehicle was not returned with a full tank

  • Charges for after-hours returns

  • Late-return fees

  • Other additional items such as tolls or special cleaning fees

Keep both documents

  • Please keep the return receipt until your final invoice is confirmed as correct

  • In the event of a discrepancy, the return receipt is your primary proof

Next step
