Many toll roads across the USA operate on a cashless system that automatically captures license plates via camera. If you drive through an automated toll lane without a personal transponder or a SIXT toll product, SIXT will pass the toll charge on to the credit card associated with your rental, along with an administration fee. All charges are applied after your rental closes.
Charges without a toll service
Customers who do not hold a personal transponder or a SIXT toll product are required to use cash lanes only. Should you drive through an automated toll lane, the following charges will apply:

SIXT Toll Service
SIXT offers toll service options at branches across the USA. Availability and pricing vary by state. In the Northeast, tolls are billed at the highest prevailing undiscounted rate, plus a set daily service fee.
Using a personal transponder
Customers may use a personal transponder for the duration of their rental. When renting in a Northeast state, please ensure the SIXT transponder box in the vehicle remains closed to prevent unintended activation.
Toll billing
All toll charges are processed and applied to the credit card on file after the rental closes. SIXT may engage a third-party agent to administer toll-related billing on its behalf.

Renters picking up in the USA may not drive their SIXT vehicle to, through, or within Mexico. Travel to Canada is permitted with restrictions. Certain pick-up states limit which Canadian provinces you may enter, and one-way rentals from the USA to Canada are strictly prohibited.
Mexico – not permitted
SIXT vehicles rented in the USA may not be driven to, through, or within Mexico under any circumstances.
Canada – restricted
Travel to Canada is allowed for round-trip rentals only and depends on your pick-up state.
For example, vehicles rented in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, or Washington may only be driven in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
Additional geographic restrictions may apply—please check the Rental Information for your pick-up state before crossing the border.
One-way USA to Canada – not permitted
One-ways from the USA to Canada are strictly prohibited.
Penalty for violation
Driving the vehicle outside of permitted geographic areas may result in a fee per mile for all miles driven during the rental period.
