Cancel your SIXT booking online in under a minute — open My Bookings on the SIXT website or in the SIXT app, tap Cancel and confirm. Flexi bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to pick-up; for Prepaid rates, a fixed cancellation fee applies depending on when you cancel.

Cancellation fees
Flexi: free of charge up to the scheduled start of the rental. A no-show fee may apply if you do not pick up the vehicle
Prepaid: free of charge within 24 hours of booking, provided pick-up is still more than 48 hours away. After that, a fixed cancellation fee applies up to the start of the rental; any prepaid amount above this fee is refunded. In case of no-show, the full prepaid amount is retained

After cancellation
For Prepaid bookings, the amount already paid — minus any applicable cancellation fee — is refunded to the original payment method (credit card, PayPal or Apple Pay). Processing time depends on your bank or provider and usually takes 5–10 business days
For Flexi bookings, no refund applies as payment is only taken at pick-up

Third-party bookings
If you booked through a travel agent or broker, their cancellation rules apply — SIXT cannot refund you directly. Please contact the provider you booked with.

After cancelling your SIXT Prepaid booking and applying the applicable cancellation rules, your refund is released to the original payment method within one business day. Your bank or provider then usually credits the amount within 5–10 further business days.
Refund time by payment method
Credit or debit card: typically credited within 5–10 business days after release by SIXT
PayPal: typically credited to your PayPal account within a few business days
Apple Pay: credited to the credit card stored in your wallet — timing is the same as for a credit card
Where the refund goes
Refunds are always issued to the original payment method used for the booking.

If you do not show up for pick-up and have not cancelled or contacted us, your booking is marked as a no-show. With Prepaid, no refund is issued; with Flexi, a no-show fee may apply. A quick message — even on the day — frees up the vehicle for other customers and may reduce any charges.
No-show with Prepaid
The full prepaid amount is retained. Partial refunds are not granted in case of no-show. Get in touch in advance — we can sometimes arrange a rebooking.
No-show with Flexi
A no-show fee may apply if you do not pick up the vehicle and have not cancelled in advance. Please cancel free of charge on the SIXT website or in the SIXT app under My Bookings, or let us know — this frees up the vehicle for other customers.
Late, but not a no-show
With your flight number on file, we automatically hold your vehicle for your adjusted arrival time. Without a flight number, a grace period of up to 1 hour from your booked pick-up time applies, within the branch's opening hours. Please let us know early if you are going to be late.
