Amendments, Cancellations & Extensions

Sometimes plans change and you no longer need a car rental, or you need to make an amendment to your reservation. Here you can find out information about charges for canceling a reservation, how to go about extending a rental if you need a car for longer than expected, or how to amend a reservation.

I am currently in the rental with Sixt, can I extend the Rental Agreement by phone?

All rentals can be extended up to five additional days. If you need an extension over the length of five days, this will require a new reservation and rental agreement. Please give us a call at +1 888 sixt car(7498 227) or mail [email protected] for your extension needs.

Is there a fee to cancel a pay later reservation?

If you have booked a pay later reservation, there is no charge to cancel or make changes to the reservation. Please locate the security code on your confirmation email and cancel or make changes here. If you are unable to make the changes you require via the website, you can also contact us via mail [email protected].

How much will I get charged for cancelling a pre-paid booking?

Cancellation fees apply to all pre-paid bookings. However, the fee varies depending on when you cancel.

If you cancel 24 hours or more before your scheduled pick-up time, you will be charged a $100 cancellation fee (plus tax, if applicable).

If you cancel less than 24 hours before your scheduled pick-up time, you will be charged a $200 cancellation fee (plus tax, if applicable).

Upon cancellation, your payment - minus cancellation fee - will be refunded. You can cancel your pre-paid reservation online by providing us with your security code. How much notice do I need to give to cancel a reservation?

You can cancel anytime before the start of your rental. For pre-paid bookings, the cancellation fee depends on how much prior notice you give us and can be up to $200 (plus tax, if applicable).

Please note, if you do not cancel your pre-paid booking prior to the start of your rental, you will be charged the full rental price — even if you do not pick up the vehicle.

How do I change or cancel a reservation?

Will I be charged if I make changes to my pre-paid booking?

You can make changes to your pre-paid booking, for free, up to 1 hour before the start of your rental. Please note that if you make any changes to your booking, the total price of your rental may change. In order to modify your booking online, you will need to provide us with your security code. Will I be charged if I make a change to my pay later reservation?

Changes to a pay later reservation can be made at any time free of a rebooking fee.
