I've never had a good experience at a car rental company and Sixt changed that. Will only be shopping at Sixt from now on.

This is not the typical rental car company, near as I can tell.

 

On one hand, they have a lot of great cars at good rates, and it's easy to rent online. On the other, they don't seem like they have enough staff to go around, and they do some odd things.

 

For example, when I rented, I got a vehicle from their "Cherry Creek" location. But they don't actually have a location in Cherry Creek, despite what the website says. They have a downtown office, and they drive one of their cars to meet you. They tell you to stand at an address and they'll park out front. It works, but it's odd.

 

And because you're not meeting at an actual rental car office, they need you to send them a photo/scan of your ID via email, and they call you a few times to confirm your appointment (which is why I think they're short staffed). And, not that it was a big deal, but on both pick-up and drop-off I was early and they were a little late meeting me.

 

Still, everyone was perfectly nice, the car I rented was just fine, and other than an issue with some grease on the vehicle (which I rinsed off myself in exchange for a discount on my rental), everything went great.

 

Finally, I should add that their invoicing system is not great. After my rental, I received an invoice for an extra $50 or so (they double-charged me tax). I replied to the invoice, mentioned it was incorrect, and several days later I received another invoice (this one in German) showing the corrected amount. Then, a few days after that, another invoice (English this time) showing the right amount. I didn't freak out about the $50 (I knew I'd get it back eventually), but I could see this being a problem in a different set of circumstances. My guess is that their billing operations aren't ready for prime time.

 

Anyways, while I don't think I'd describe my experience as perfect or as good as it gets, I won't hesitate to rent from Sixt again.
