There are many things to do in Goslar and with one of our rental cars, it is easy to find them. The Imperial Palace of Goslar is an area of several historic buildings that were built in the 11th century. These buildings include the Kaiserhaus, which is where the leader of Germany lived. Over the years, many of these buildings have been restored and today it is a popular tourist attraction. The Rammelsburg Mine and Mining Museum gives visitors a look into the lives of miners of the middle-ages and features a mine that was in operation for over 1,000 years. The mine closed in 1988 and Rammelsburg is now a World Hertiage Site. When you are near the old town hall in Goslar, you can hear the carillon playing and you can watch a procession of miners dressed in garb from medieval times to modern times. This happens four times a day so it is easy to arrange your schedule to be there for one of the shows. In this old part of the town, you will also find cobbled streets to walk down and cafes to rest in during a long day of sightseeing. This area of town shows examples of old Gothic and Romanesque architecture.
