All Car Rental Protection Choices from Sixt
Liability coverage/Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
Liability coverage is the most basic protection that Sixt offers, however it is a must when you rent a car from any company. If purchased, Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) protects the renter against claims made by a third party for bodily injury and/or property damages sustained as a result of an accident while the renter is operating a rental vehicle. This coverage supplies the renter with third-party liability protection up to a limit of $1,000,000 per accident. Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) does not cover all situations nor risks that may arise while operating a rental vehicle Examples when there may be exclusions where you will not be covered under this protection include unauthorized or intoxicated drivers, no first party uninsured motorist coverage, no coverage for certain passengers in the Vehicle, among other exclusions.
Partial Damage Waiver (PDW)
The Partial Damage Waiver removes the renter's responsibility for the first $500 of damage to or loss of the vehicle. Then the customer will be held responsible for all other damage costs exceeding the amount of $500. Warning: PDW is not available in all states. (Partial Damage Waiver can also be referred to as LC)
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
The Loss Damage Waiver reduces the renter's responsibility in the event of damage to or loss of the rental vehicle. The cost of LDW varies between states and rental locations. If LDW is not accepted, the renter will be held liable for the full value of the car. (Loss Damage Waiver can also be referred to as LD)
Super Top Cover LDW
If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose the Super Top over LDW to further reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility. (Super Top Cover LDW is also referred to as BF)
Glass Damage Waiver (GDW)
GDW is protection only for the windshield of the rental car. This policy covers nearly all windows in the vehicle, including the windshield, side windows, rear-window and mirror glass. The renter will not be liable to cover any costs incurred if they choose the GDW. If Glass Damage Waiver is not accepted, the renter will be held liable for all of the damages to the windshield, side windows, rear-window and mirror glass of the rental vehicle. GDW is not available within the USA (Glass Damage Waiver is also referred to as GT).
