Extended Roadside Protection

Sixt aims to offers services that provide drivers with support when on the road. As part of our efforts, we offer a Roadside Protection plan which is an extended coverage policy that covers minor accidents and incidents and absolves renters from service and repair costs following self-induced events. Valid across every car rental category, you will have the same level of protection regardless of whether you are driving a compact car or a luxury model.

Overview of our Roadside Protection Services

All of the services below may only be ordered by a direct claim with SIXT 24-hour Roadside Protection. SIXT will determine the type and extent of service required to ensure the renter stays mobile. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is not covered by SIXT within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.

KEY LOCKOUT SERVICE

In the case of the key being locked in the rental car, Sixt will cover the cost of a lockout service by either the vehicle manufacturer or a third party service provider, the cost of delivering a new vehicle or vehicle towing to the nearest Sixt location.

RUNNING OUT OF FUEL

If a renter experiences a breakdown due to running out of fuel, Sixt will cover the cost for breakdown assistance and fuel required to continue your trip.

DEAD BATTERY

In the case of a dead battery, Sixt will cover the cost of jump start service, by either the vehicle manufacturer or a third party service provider as well covering the cost of delivering a new vehicle or towing of the vehicle to the nearest Sixt location.

LOST KEY OR KEY FOB

If a renter misplaces the vehicle key or key fob during the rental period, Sixt will cover the cost of replacing the key or key fob, the cost of delivering a new set of keys, towing of the vehicle to the nearest Sixt location and for a replacement rental vehicle.

TOWING

In the case of a mechanical failure of the rental vehicle, Sixt will cover the cost of towing by either the vehicle manufacturer or a third party service provider, the cost of delivering a new vehicle or towing of the vehicle of the nearest Sixt location.

HOW ROADSIDE PROTECTION WORKS

All services need to be ordered by a direct claim with the Sixt 24-hour Roadside Assistance team as they are responsible for determining the type and extent of service required. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is falls outside of the scope of the Sixt Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.
