How and When to Use the SR 520 Bridge

The SR 520 Bridge over Lake Washington connects Seattle to the eastern region of King County, mainly Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond. This toll road intersects several other highways including Interstate 5 in Seattle, SR 202 in Redmond, and I-405 in Bellevue. There are no toll booths on this road as it is electronic tolling only. Drivers can pay with their prepaid “Good to Go!” account or you can send the toll fee by mail for $2 if you don’t have a prepaid account. For payment by mail, a photo will be taken of your license plate and a bill will be sent to you. There are several places where you can enter and exit the toll road. On the Seattle side, you can enter and exit from I-5, Montlake Boulevard E, or Lake Washington Boulevard E. On the east side, you can enter and exit from 84th Avenue NE, 92nd Avenue NE, Lake Washington Boulevard NE, 108th Avenue NE, or I-405. The SR 520 Bridge is open 24/7 and tolls are required during all hours. Carpools and motorcycles are also required to pay tolls. 

Tacoma Narrows Bridge

How and when to use the Tacoma Narrows Bridge

This toll road connects the city of Tacoma to Gig Harbor on the Kitsap Peninsula over Puget Sound. This is the quickest and most direct way to get to the city of Tacoma from the peninsula. The toll is only collected for drivers going into Tacoma. Starting in Gig Harbor, you can access this toll road from Olympic Drive NW, 36th Street NW or 24th Street NW. On the eastern side of the bridge, you can exit the toll road at N Jackson Avenue, Pearl Street, S 19th Street West or Orchard Street. The bridge is open 24/7 and the toll is required at all hours. Motorcycles and carpools are not exempt from paying the toll.  
 

SR 167 HOT Lanes

Truck toll cost Trucks over 10,000 lbs are not allowed to use the HOT lanes at any time. However, carpools and buses can use the HOT lanes for free.

How and when to use the SR 167 HOT Lanes

The SR 167 HOT lanes connect I-405 in Renton to 8th Street East in Pacific and provide a faster trip. Drivers who do not want to pay the toll can use the regular lanes on SR 167. These high occupancy toll lanes ensure that traffic is always moving at 45mph in these lanes even if the regular lanes are congested. The toll rates are posted on electronic signs when you enter the toll road, and you’ll always pay the first toll you see. You can enter and exit the lanes anywhere along the route by crossing over the single white line. The lanes are open at all hours, but tolls are only charged between 5 am and 7 pm. Carpools and motorcycles don’t have to pay a toll, but single-occupancy vehicles are required to pay the toll.

How and when to use the I-405 express toll lanes

The I-405 Express Toll Lanes connect Lynnwood to Bellevue and intersect several other roads along the way, including SR 520 and I-5. You will also pass through the communities of Redmond and Bothell along the way. Express lanes provide drivers with a choice for a faster and more reliable trip than using the regular lanes. You can also access the express toll lanes from direct access ramps. There is one in Bellevue at NE 6th Street and another in Kirkland at NE 128th Street. The express lanes charge a toll between 5 am and 7 pm Monday through Friday. Overnight and on weekends these lanes are free of charge for most vehicles. Failure to use the designated access points will result in a ticket of over $250.00. Motorcycles can always travel for free with a motorcycle pass and carpools of more than 2 or 3 people can travel for free between designated hours.   
 

SR 99 Tunnel

How and when to use the SR 99 Tunnel

The SR 99 tunnel connects SoDo in Downtown Seattle to South Lake Union in the northern part of the city. Tolls are collected in both directions at the exit point of the tunnel. You can enter and exit the tunnel at the South Portal at Alaskan Way or at the North Portal at Dexter Avenue. The toll road is open 24/7 with tolls being collected at all hours. All vehicles that pass through the tunnel will be charged.
