Log into the app with your existing SIXT login or create a new login. Please activate Bluetooth and push notifications when setting up the app.

GENERAL

I would like to use the service. What requirements does my reservation need to fulfill?

The service is currently limited. If your reservation meets the requirements for use, you will receive an email with a personal invitation 3 days before the start of the rental. In addition - provided you have registered in the SIXT app with your driver's license and ID - you will be informed about the service 3 hours before the start of your rental by means of a push notification. The collection and return station must be located within a SIXT share business area (currently in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich). Optional physical extras such as child seats and snow chains, and also long-term rentals and additional drivers are exclusion criteria for the service.

How does the service work?

This mobility service enables you to choose a vehicle from the available fleet in your area, reserve it using the SIXT app and also open it in the app. You save yourself the time of going to the rental station and can reserve your vehicle 3 hours before the booked pick-up time and start the rental earlier if you wish. You avoid all the formalities when renting at the SIXT counter, since your documents have already been checked during the registration process in the SIXT app. Enjoy full flexibility and either bring the vehicle to your booked SIXT station at the end of the rental or park it anywhere in the SIXT share business area.

What do I have to consider when using the service for the first time?

In order to use the service, prior registration in the SIXT app is necessary. First, download the current version of the SIXT app for iOS or Android and then register in the app with your driver's license and ID as well as a valid means of payment. As soon as your data has been checked by us, you are ready to use the new service. Please note that physical extras such as child seats or winter equipment, but also additional drivers are exclusion criteria for the use of the service. You will be informed via push notification if your rental is suitable for the service.

Can I also use the service by starting the rental on the SIXT website?

No, unfortunately that is not possible. The vehicle search and opening the vehicle outside a SIXT station only works via the SIXT app. To be able to use the service, you need the SIXT app and have to register for the service. To do this, please open the "Account" tab in the SIXT app and click on the "Activate now" button. Please have your driver's license as well as your ID and a valid means of payment ready for registration.

In which cities is the service available?

The service is currently available in the SIXT share business areas of Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.

Can I drive from one SIXT share business area to another?

Yes, that's possible. Be aware that the drop-off in a SIXT share business area, in which your booked return station is not located will lead to an additional charge of 30 €. Please also keep in mind the included kilometers in your reservation, the price for additional kilometers can be found in your respective reservation.

I have already used SIXT fastlane. What is the difference to this service?

With SIXT fastlane you go directly to the parking space of your vehicle at your SIXT pick-up station and save yourself the trip to the SIXT counter. With this new service you select a vehicle from the SIXT share business area in the SIXT app. You can choose a vehicle located near your location or in the entire business area.

Which operating systems support the SIXT app?

The SIXT app is supported by iOS 10 and above and Android 6.0 and above.

BEFORE THE RENTAL

How do I register in the SIXT app?

Click on the "Account" tab in the SIXT app and then on the "Activate now" button. The app will guide you through the registration process. Please have your driver's license and ID card ready. During the registration process, the app will ask you to scan your documents and to provide a valid form of payment. Registration takes only a few minutes, we will check your documents as soon as possible and activate your profile.

I made a reservation. Why didn't I get an invitation to the service?

Your desired rental station might not be in the SIXT share business area of Berlin, Hamburg or Munich, or your booked vehicle class or an extra are not supported by this service.

I was invited to use the service via a push notification. What should I do now?

You now have the option of selecting and reserving your desired vehicle in the SIXT share business area with the SIXT app. Then go to the vehicle of your choice at any time within 3 hours, open it using the SIXT app and start the rental.

For which vehicle classes is the service available?

Currently, small and medium-sized cars such as VW Golf, Skoda Oktavia and Seat Leon (including the compact and intermediate class) are included.

I have reserved the vehicle of my choice, but would rather rent as usual at the SIXT station. Is that still possible?

You can choose. Should the reserved vehicle not appeal to you, please contact a SIXT employee at the SIXT station you booked at. They will take care of your reservation as usual.

What do I need to know about choosing a vehicle?

You have the option to select your desired vehicle from the available vehicle fleet in your SIXT share business area starting 3 hours before your rental begins. After opening the SIXT app, you will see a list of all available vehicles in your area. Find your desired model and confirm your selection in the app. When you select the vehicle, the vehicle is reserved for you for 3 hours, so that you have enough time to get to the vehicle. You can also start your rental earlier if you wish.

How do I find my rental car?

You can find directions to your selected vehicle in the SIXT app.

I received an invitation to the service, but I don't see any vehicles near me in the app. What can I do?

If there are no SIXT share vehicles available in your area, please increase the search radius. Alternatively, you can go to your booked SIXT station as usual. Our staff will do everything possible to provide you with the vehicle of your choice in the booked category.

I have reserved a vehicle near me. How long do I have to start the rental?

You will receive a push notification on your smartphone 3 hours before the booked rental start. You then have up to 3 hours to reserve a vehicle via the SIXT app and start the rental. The time you have used up before the initially booked rental starts will be deducted from the agreed return time.

When opening the map in the SIXT app, a vehicle near me is already selected. Can I choose another one?

Yes, you can select any vehicle that is displayed in the SIXT share business area. Choose the vehicle that you prefer.

My vehicle cannot be opened with the app. What should I do?

Please make sure that your smartphone's Bluetooth and cellular connection is activated and try again. If you have any problems, please contact the SIXT customer service via: +49 89 30704704.

I made a reservation with a vehicle of my choice, but I will not be able to reach the vehicle in time for the start of the rental. Is it possible to extend the reservation?

Yes, an extension of the reservation is possible at a price of max. 0.12 € per minute, depending on the selected vehicle. The reservation can be extended via the SIXT app. The vehicle can be reserved for max. 12 hours.

DURING THE RENTAL

I found my vehicle. How can I start the rental?

Simply open the vehicle using the SIXT app, then follow the instructions on the screen. The vehicle key can be found in the glove compartment.

The vehicle I chose is dirty/damaged. Can I choose another vehicle?

Yes, you can change your vehicle choice. However, please do not open the unwanted vehicle using the SIXT app, rather select a different vehicle in the app. Then go to the new vehicle of your choice, open it via the SIXT app and start your rental contract. You are also welcome to go to your SIXT station and rent your vehicle just like you are used to. In this case, your reservation will remain until a maximum of 30 minutes after the planned start of the rental.

Where do I find the vehicle key?

The vehicle key is located in the glove compartment.

Can I extend the rental after using the service if I need the vehicle longer?

If you would like to continue using the vehicle beyond the agreed end of the rental period, you will pay the respective minute price for the SIXT share vehicle. This rate is displayed in the SIXT app. Please be aware that booked extras from the reservation such as protection will be additionally charged by minute.

The reserved vehicle is not freshly cleaned, as I am used to when renting from SIXT. Is it supposed to be like this?

Our SIXT share vehicles are cleaned regularly, but not after every rental. If you do not like the condition of your reserved vehicle, please do not open it with the SIXT app. You will have the opportunity to either select another vehicle in your area or go to your SIXT station to obtain a clean vehicle. Your original reservation is retained up to 30 minutes after the planned start of your rental, so you have enough time to pick up your preferred vehicle.

I was caught speeding/towed. What costs should I expect?

The costs of administrative offenses are passed on to you according to the invoice of the service provider. We charge you an additional 25 € for the processing of the administrative offense.

How do I report damage to the vehicle?

Please check the vehicle for any previous damages before starting the rental and report any new damages to the customer service via phone  +49 89 30704704. A list of previous damages at the respective vehicle can be found in the SIXT app.

Where can I park the vehicle during the rental and at the end of the rental?

During the rental period, you may park the vehicle wherever it is permitted by the road traffic regulations. Any parking fees must be paid by you during the rental period. At the end of the rental period, you may park the vehicle both in the SIXT share business area and at the station where you booked. There are no parking fees when returning the vehicle in the SIXT share business area.

Do I have to pay parking fees?

Yes, during the rental period, you will have to cover the parking fees at the designated parking meters yourself. The electronic parking badge in the vehicle is deactivated during your rental. If you end your rental within the SIXT share business area, SIXT will only pay the parking fees once the rental ended.

FUELING

I can't find a gas station at my destination. Can I still park the vehicle and finish the rental?

You can still park the vehicle. In this case, we will be happy to take over the refueling at the average market price and charge you the respective amount including a service fee. Please refer to your rental invoice for the costs. Please note that we charge an additional fee of 25 € if the remaining range of the vehicle is less than 15 km at the end of the rental period.

How do I know how much I have to refuel?

The SIXT app shows you both the fuel level at the start of the rental and the current fuel level. Please note the time at which the fuel level was last updated in the app, as changes may have occurred in the meantime if you have driven the car since then. Please also note the fuel gauge in the vehicle display. Should your vehicle have a lower fuel level at the end of the rental period than at the beginning of the rental period, we refuel the missing amount and charge you the amount plus an additional service fee. Should your vehicle have a higher fuel level at the end of the rental period than at the beginning, we will refund the difference.

The vehicle is not filled up with fuel, as I am used to when renting. Is that normal?

Since you are using a vehicle from the SIXT share car sharing fleet for your rental, it can be possible that the vehicle is not fully fueled at the start of the rental. If the vehicle does not suit you, you have up to 30 minutes after the start of the rental to go to the booked SIXT station and pick up another vehicle there. Please also note the applicable fuel regulations.

AFTER THE RENTAL

What should I be aware of when returning the vehicle?

You have two ways to finish your rental:

Returning the vehicle anywhere in the SIXT share business area: When returning the vehicle, please make sure that it has the same fuel level as initially at the beginning of your rental. Park the vehicle in a public parking space, put the vehicle key in the glove box and end the rental via the SIXT app. Please stay close to the car until the SIXT app confirms the end of the rental. 

Returning the car at your SIXT station: The process for returning the vehicle at the booked SIXT station is the same as usual. Please refuel the vehicle and make sure that the fuel level at the end of the rental is the same as at the beginning of your rental. Please park the vehicle at the designated SIXT parking spaces and hand over the vehicle key to the responsible employee or put it into the key box. In case the vehicle is not returned at the booked SIXT station but any other station, a service fee of 30 € will be charged.

How do I pay for my rental when I use the service? Do I have to drive to a SIXT station to pay?

The payment works automatically. The rental amount will be deducted from your payment method stored in the SIXT app.

What happens to my kilometer limit, which I have agreed to in the reservation, when I use the service?

Nothing changes with your reservation, same applies for the included kilometer from the reservation. Additional kilometers are charged at the price per kilometer specified in your reservation.
