What is the Airport Guarantee?
With the Airport Guarantee, we make sure a SIXT share vehicle is waiting for you at the airport – even if you land late in the evening and demand has been high all day. You book the guarantee in advance in the app, and we make sure a car stays available for you.
How does it work?
Open the SIXT share section in the SIXT app and select the airport location where you want to pick up your car. If the Airport Guarantee is available, you will see the \"Book guarantee\" button with the price displayed. Optionally select your preferred transmission type (automatic or any) and confirm. You do not need to specify a pickup time – the guarantee is valid for 14 hours from the time of booking.
From then on, we continuously monitor vehicle availability at your airport. As long as enough vehicles are on site, nothing else happens – when you arrive, simply reserve a car of your choice and drive off. If the number of available vehicles drops below a certain threshold, we automatically reserve a vehicle for you and send you a push notification. That car is then blocked for you until you arrive.
How much does the Airport Guarantee cost?
The price of the guarantee is shown in the app before you book. The fee is only charged if you actually start a trip – it is then added to the cost of your regular trip. If you do not use a vehicle, you pay nothing.
No additional reservation costs apply for the time a vehicle is automatically blocked for you – no matter how long it takes until you arrive.
Can I choose a specific vehicle?
If no vehicle has been automatically reserved for you yet, you can select a vehicle at the airport location yourself at any time. Your guarantee is then transferred to that reservation. Please note: the usual conditions apply to a reservation you make yourself – the first 15 minutes are free, after which regular reservation minutes are charged until you unlock the vehicle. We therefore recommend reserving only once you are at the location.
If a vehicle has already been automatically blocked for you, you will see it in the app and can unlock it directly. Switching to a different vehicle is no longer possible at that point. Your selected transmission type is taken into account when we choose the vehicle.
Can I use another SIXT share vehicle while the guarantee is active?
No. While your Airport Guarantee is active, you cannot start another reservation – not even at a different location. If you need another vehicle in the meantime, end the guarantee in the app first. You can then book it again if needed, provided enough vehicles are still available.
What happens if I do not pick up the vehicle?
The Airport Guarantee is valid for 14 hours from booking. If no trip is started within this time, the guarantee ends automatically and any blocked vehicle is released. You will not be charged.
Can I cancel the Airport Guarantee?
Yes, you can end the guarantee in the app at any time, free of charge. Please do so as soon as you know you no longer need the vehicle – this keeps it available for other customers.
Why is the Airport Guarantee not offered to me?
The guarantee is only available at selected airport locations and only when enough vehicles are currently on site. If too few vehicles are available, the option is hidden.
What if the reserved vehicle has a defect?
End the reservation in the app and select another available vehicle. If you have been charged anyway, please contact our customer service – we will take care of the refund.
Can I add extras such as protection packages?
Yes. Before unlocking, you can customize your trip as usual and add protection packages or other options.
