The lessee and the driver must be in possession of a full, valid driver's license for at least one year and present it together with an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving license.
For driving licenses from countries not part of the Geneva/ Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (e.g. China), an official translation of the license in English must be presented with the original license.
Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.
During collection of the vehicle, an authentication of the presented identity documents is made. In addition to the driving license renters from countries other than Sweden will need to present a valid passport at the rental counter as proof of identity.
Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 19 years (having held the driving license for at least 1 year). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle. Minimum age and possession of a valid driving license in Sweden is:

If the driver is younger than 24 years and has caused the damage, an additional 3000,00 SEK is charged.
In case of a damage/theft, the insurance is not valid if the conditions are not met.
All credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa are acceptable as payment methods whereas all preaid and debit cards (Visa Electron, Maestro) are not accepted. Sixt also accepts AirPlus as payment. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the lessee. The physical credit card must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time. The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card and the validity period of the credit card must be at least one month after the end of the rental period. There may be a credit check in connection with the pick-up.
We also do not accept digital solutions such as Apple Pay, MobilePay or other digital payment solutions.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Cash Payment is not accepted.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle. How long the reservation is locked depends on your card issuing bank's transaction time. Normally, the processing time for the banks is 3-5 banking days (some banks have longer transaction times). When the control is complete, it is released on your card and you have access to your money. Please note that Sixt may also perform a credit check when you pick up your vehicle.

To hire one of the following vehicles, customers must present two separate credit cards: A, V, B, S.
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of 300,000,000.00 SEK for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
CTI is provided by Trygg Hansa and can be bought through Trygg Hansa, Willis or Sixt rent a car.
If CTI is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for 20,000.00 SEK. If CTI is accepted, the insurance reduces the excess paid by the customer from 45,500.00 SEK to the following amounts: 8,500.00 SEK For drivers younger than 24 years, the excess amount will be increased by 3,000.00 SEK.
For special car rental models, special insurance terms may apply.
Minimum age 24 and signed CTI is required to sign the CTI Drive Safe. Rented equipment is not covered by the collision damage reduction/waiver. The Collision Cost Reduction shall not apply should the vehicle be stolen with keys. The Collision Cost Reduction does not apply for damages that occurred outside Sweden. Should the lessor have approved use in another country, the Collision Cost Reduction is extended to the relevant country/countries. For the Collision Cost Reduction to be valid, the lessee must meet standard obligations in the context of damage incidents, e.g., immediately file the damage claim to the lessor. In the context of parking damage, or hit and run situations, a police report and, if possible, witness information is required. Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway. For Cross Border to other countries, please contact the local Sixt Office.
A written permission issued by the Sixt branch is mandatory to cross the border.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
It is the renter's responsibility to be informed about national rules regarding the entry of each country.
A foreign use charge applies for each started 30 day period or part thereof. The price is determined by which zone you drive in. The charge will not be split for shorter rentals. The charge does not apply for Finland, Denmark and Norway.

During the period of December 1st until March 31st winter tyres are mandatory in Sweden and will be charged.
One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Sweden are allowed under conditions depending on the current price list.
International one-way rental is only allowed to certain locations in selected countries, depending on the current price list.

Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.
A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license. The additional driver must fulfill all the requirements for the chosen vehicle type.
Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available subject to a fee.
All petrol and diesel vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled in full prior to return to Sixt. If desired, the vehicle will be refuelled or recharged according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station. Please note, that in case of refuelling or recharging a service fee will apply.
Electric vehicles are supplied with a minimum 80% battery charge and must be returned 80% charged.

Alternatively, you may purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

In the event of loss or damage of the charging cable for electrical vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles, a fee will be charged for the replacement of the cable.
If the renter is charged with traffic or parking fines, or neglects to pay toll roads where applicable during the rental, the renter will be charged an administration fee together with the first settlement-proposition.
The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines and tolls occurring during the rental.
An infrastructure charge applies for vehicles driving on the Sundsvall bridge. An infrastructure charge applies for vehicles driving on the Motala bridge. The accumulated amount will be applied to the lease and will be charged to the chosen means of payment. Infrastructure charge is subject to VAT. To cover the administration costs for such handling an administration fee will be charged of 25% of the infrastructure charge, maximum 250 SEK.
A statutory VAT surcharge will be added to the infrastructure charge.
A congestion charge applies for vehicles entering or moving within the congestion charge zones in Stockholm or Gothenburg. The accumulated amount will be applied to the lease and will be charged to the chosen means of payment. Congestion charges are subject to VAT. To cover the administration costs for such handling an administration fee will be charged of 25% of the total congestion charge amount, maximum 250 SEK.
A statutory VAT surcharge will be added to the congestion charge.
In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure (i.e. smell removal, animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a cleaning charge will apply.
Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement. If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on +49 (0)89- 66 060 060 or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.
If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.
When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.
If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you SEK 130.00 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.
If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of SEK 130.00 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance. With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.
