The driver has to be in possession of a valid driving license for at least 1 year. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.
Driving license printed with non-Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving license.
Please show a valid driver's license and ID card/ passport at time of pick up!
Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.
In Puerto Rico, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

A surcharge applies for young drivers under 25 years.
The following credit cards are accepted: all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - all credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, Mastercard and Visa - are accepted. Debit cards are accepted (restrictions apply). We do not accept any prepaid cards. The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.
Changing booking
Changing Booking A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 25,00 USD. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of booking can be completed free of charge, provided the scheduled pick-up time is more than 48 hours away.
No-show In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
TI is mandatory in Puerto Rico, unless the renter can provide written proof to Sixt at time of pick up that the renter's credit card car rental insurance is valid in Puerto Rico for the type of vehicle being rented.
If written proof cannot be provided, TI will be added to the Rental Agreement. In this case, protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of 20,000.00 USD for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim. Third party coverage from brokers and/ or wholesalers are not accepted.
Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.
If LDW is not accepted, customer must provide written proof of coverage in Puerto Rico and will be held liable for the full value of the car. If LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 1,000.00 USD (V, B)
The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.
If the protection is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for the full extent of the damage.
By taking out insurance protection for the interior, liability in the event of damage or soil to the vehicle interior can be reduced to a predetermined deductible or eliminated.
If the protection is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for the full extent of the damages and cleaning costs to the vehicle interior. Interior Protection is not valid in the event of willful or grossly negligent damage or soil caused to the vehicle interior, by for example smoking, transporting animal without pet package, or by removing car parts like floor mats or luggage space cover.
Cross Border Rentals are not allowed.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.
Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.
One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Puerto Rico are allowed under conditions depending on tariff.
International One-Way Rentals are not allowed.
In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.
Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.
A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.
Baby seats and child seats are available subject to a fee.
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise the current prices per litre of petrol or diesel will be charged in addition to a refuelling fee.
If desired, the vehicle will be refuled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station.
No Delivery/Collection Service is offered.
Vehicle drop off at airport parking is possible only with a charge.
The renter is obliged to report the vehicle back to SIXT at the end of the rental period.
Our optional Express Toll Service offers unlimited use of all automated toll lanes within Puerto Rico for a daily rate.
A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.
A Vehicle License Fee occurs.
A Customer Facility Charge applies for rentals in Puerto Rico.
All contracts will be automatically enrolled in the Emergency Roadside Assistance Program (ERA) at a surcharge of only 2.99 USD per day. Key Services (lost or locked in car), Tire Change, Jump Starts and Gas Service in case you run out of gas will all be provided at no cost. If customers prefers not to participate they must decline participation upon rental and be responsible for any "Service Fees"in the event customer reuqires any of the services listetd above.
All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs). For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply. Likewise, different prices and terms and conditions may apply to partners with individual agreements when rebooking or cancelling prepaid tariffs.
