A valid, unexpired, and original driver’s license that is legible, in good condition, and valid for the rental period is required. We do not accept extremely damaged or illegible licenses. Temporary licenses are accepted only if accompanied by the original expired license. Digital licenses, photocopies, Learner’s Permits, and licenses with breathalyzer restrictions are not accepted.
\nThe minimum age is 21, except in New York where it is 18. For government rentals, the minimum is 18. Renters under 25 will incur an Age Excess Waiver fee and can only rent certain vehicle categories (Economy through Full-size Sedans, Midsize SUVs, and Minivans).
\nYes, you can. If your driver’s license is in a non-Roman alphabet (such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, or Cyrillic), you must provide an international driver’s license or an official translation. If your country is not part of the international driver’s license treaty, an official translation is required along with the original license. SIXT offers assistance to Chinese customers with necessary translations via the SIXT WeChat Account. This or any other valid translation must be presented along with the original driver’s license.
