Because it can start snowing in August and continue to June, you may want to check road conditions and whether your destination is open before heading out (even if you\u2019re in a four-wheel-drive vehicle<\/a>). Most don\u2019t think of lions and tigers when they think of Denver, but here they are at the Wild Animal Sanctuary. Along with bears, jaguars, camels, alpacas and many more animals rescued and given sanctuary in over 720 acres. Just under a 1-hour drive northeast of Denver, in Keenesburg, Colorado, is the only place in the U.S. where you can see large mammals and birds in their natural habitats and not in a zoo exhibit. You tour the habitats on a 1.5-mile elevated walkway, so make sure your camera is ready to go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
