{"id":3597,"date":"2019-12-17T09:24:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-17T09:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/com.sx-magazine-wp.sixt.io\/magazine\/?p=3597"},"modified":"2019-12-13T09:23:44","modified_gmt":"2019-12-13T09:23:44","slug":"driving-tips-croatia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sixt.com\/magazine\/tips\/driving-tips-croatia\/","title":{"rendered":"Driving Tips in Croatia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you\u2019re considering a scenic road-trip across Croatia or are visiting for a family vacation, SIXT&#8217;s driving tips will help make your travel stress free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rules and Regulations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Drive on the right-hand side of the road and overtake on the left.<\/li><li>Seat belts are mandatory for all occupants of the vehicle.<\/li><li>Children under 12 cannot sit in the front seat.<\/li><li>Children between the ages of 2 and 5 must be seated in a suitable child seat.<\/li><li>Other children must be seated using a suitable child restraint, using a booster seat when necessary.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t drink and drive, the law has a zero-tolerance policy for drivers under 25 which means that the blood alcohol level (BAC) limit is 0%. The BAC limit for drivers over 25 years old is 0.5%.<\/li><li>The use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited unless you have a hands free device.<\/li><li>Between the end of October and the end of March dipped headlights should be used during daylight hours. Photo: @mappando_inlove<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Speed Limits in Croatia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The speed limits listed below are the standard for cars without trailers but can vary due to road conditions or construction, so be sure to look for any signs noting any variations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>In built-up areas<\/strong><\/td><td>50 km\/h (31 mph)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Outside built-up areas<\/strong><\/td><td>80 km\/h (50 mph)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Motorways<\/strong><\/td><td>130 km\/h (81 mph)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Bring Along<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Drivers are to carry a valid driver\u2019s license, registration documents, and insurance documents at all times while driving.<\/li><li>You must carry your passport on you at all times as a form of identification.<\/li><li>It is also a good idea to have an International Driving Permit (IDP). This is required if your license is in a non-Roman alphabet like Chinese.<\/li><li>A reflective jacket is to be kept in the car and worn if you are in an accident or have a breakdown and must be outside the car on the road.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In case of an emergency call, 112. Emergency road help in English is available by calling 987.<\/li><li>Motorway (interstate) signs have the letter A followed by two digits. They have a green background with a picture of motorway in white. State roads have the letter D and country roads have the letter Z followed by four digits.<\/li><li>There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.com\/toll-roads\/europe\/croatia\/\">tolls on various motorways, bridges, and tunnels<\/a> including route E59 and the E70 out of Zagreb.
