Despite\u00a0the intense business atmosphere of the UK capital city\u00a0and\u00a0on-street\u00a0parking in London’s<\/a> center a rarity, many parking garages are available.\u00a0Wherever you park, be sure to check the signs, as\u00a0information about\u00a0restrictions can\u00a0vary from\u00a0double yellow lines to pay-and-display signs with site-specific information. Fines and penalties are vigorously enforced and can be relatively expensive.<\/p>\n

Where to Find On-Street Parking<\/b><\/h2>\n

In Central London, there is no guarantee you will find a parking space and the lucky few will have to pay and display a parking ticket from a machine, most probably with a maximum time allowance. That said, you\u00a0can\u00a0have luck after 6.30 p.m.,\u00a0when, for the most part, parking restrictions\u00a0end\u00a0and\u00a0there are more free spaces available. Outside of Central London,\u00a0on-street parking becomes easier. Just look out for signage for “residents only”\u00a0areas where you need a permit to park there.<\/p>\n

Where to Find Parking Garages<\/b><\/h2>\n

There are many parking garages in Central London, mostly operated by Q-Park and NCP. You can book online in advance to guarantee a space and find out fees before you travel.\u00a0To search online before you go,\u00a0Parkopedia\u00a0is a great resource and there are a few free and lower-priced\u00a0parking\u00a0lots throughout the city. If you want to save money you are better off looking outside of Central London and near an underground train station\u00a0that\u00a0can transport you where you need to go in no time!<\/p>\n

Where to Park for Free<\/b><\/h2>\n

Free parking is hard to come by but in the outer districts, you can find free spaces close to an underground station. These are often in supermarket parking lots such as Sainsbury\u2019s in Whitechapel or Tesco in Vauxhall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Park & Ride Locations<\/b><\/h2>\n

Transport for London operates a number of parking lots close to underground stations but there is no official park and ride system\u00a0and the parking lots are not free. You can also find parking lots\u00a0at\u00a0Amersham, Burnt Oak, Hammersmith, Pinner, Richmond,\u00a0Upminster, West\u00a0Ruislip,\u00a0and Wimbledon\u00a0underground stations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
