Garner State Park is also nearby and boasts deep canyons, clear blue streams,&nbsp;and limestone cliffs. Fredericksburg<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With Cross Mountain, Balanced Rock and Enchanted Rock close by, Fredericksburg is an excellent gateway town to some of the region\u2019s best natural sights. German immigrants established the town in the 1800s and you\u2019ll find bratwurst and schnitzel on the menu at many restaurants, as well as two beer&nbsp;gardens&nbsp;in the town complete with German d\u00e9cor! There is even a Christmas shop selling traditional German decorations. The town is also a popular spot to pick up locally produced wines, with wineries offering tastings. The town is located on the 18-&nbsp;mile-long barrier island that stretches along the&nbsp;Gulf Coast and you can reach it with your car rental using the ferry service. With excellent beaches, seafood restaurants and boutiques, it\u2019s a great seaside vacation&nbsp;spot&nbsp;with plenty of hotels and resorts to choose from. There is also a golf course, bird watching opportunities,&nbsp;and regular fishing tournaments. There are plenty of rivers and creeks to cool off in along with the 300-acre City Lake Park. We recommend checking out the Cibolo Nature Preserve to explore Cibolo Creek as well as the natural caves:&nbsp;Cave Without a Name and Cascade Caverns. New Braunfels caters well to&nbsp;visitors&nbsp;with a huge variety of eateries and the town has a fun-packed schedule of events.
