How do I report damage or an accident on my SIXT rental car?

Damage, accidents and theft

Report any damage or accident to SIXT immediately — by phone first, followed by written confirmation — regardless of whether it was caused by you or a third party. A police report is required in all cases. The sooner you notify us, the sooner we can assist.

Steps after an accident

  • Make the scene safe, tend to anyone injured and call the emergency services if required

  • Call the police, request an incident reference number and note it down

  • Call SIXT Roadside Assistance and follow the instructions provided

Information to have ready

  • Your rental agreement number and the licence plate of your rental car

  • The date, time, exact location and a description of what happened

  • Photos of all damage, the accident scene and any other vehicles involved

  • Names, addresses, licence plates and insurance details of all parties and witnesses

Theft or break-in

  • Call the police immediately, obtain an incident reference number and note it down

  • Call SIXT Roadside Assistance, provide the relevant documentation and follow the instructions for return or replacement
