Get to know your rental car

Before you start driving, take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the vehicle's equipment. See how the heating and air conditioning, radio, seatbelts, door locks, headlights and windshield wipers work. Also check where the spare tire and gas tank access are. Getting distracted trying to figure out those things while driving can be dangerous. Do not wait until the fuel warning light goes on to think about buying gas, especially if you do not know how far it is between gas stations. If, in the unlikely event that an emergency light illuminates on your control panel, do not ignore it. How do I find out the fuel type of my rental vehicle?  

Normally, stickers are placed onto the fuel doors and/or caps, to advise you of the fuel type. However, if this is not the case on your rental vehicle, please call SIXT Roadside Team at +1 (888) 749 8227, option 6 before re-fueling. If you believe you have re-fueled incorrectly, do not start the vehicle as this is likely to cause further damage. Call us at the number above for information about what to do. 
 

Please be aware that the incorrect re-fueling of our vehicles is excluded from the Loss Damage Waiver, and you will be charged for the full cost of repairs.
