Where can I drive my rental car in the USA?
Within the contiguous United States
Vehicles rented at most SIXT locations in the contiguous United States may be driven freely within all contiguous states.
Driving from the United States to Canada
If you pick up your rental vehicle in the United States and plan to drive into Canada, the following restrictions apply:
Pick-up locations and permitted Canadian provinces:
- Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington
- You may only drive in: British Columbia and Alberta
- Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin

- You may only drive in: Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick
One-way rentals to Canada
One-way rentals from the United States to Canada are not permitted.
Driving from the United States to Mexico
Driving a SIXT rental vehicle to, within, or through Mexico is not allowed.
Important note
If a vehicle is used outside the permitted driving areas, a fee of USD 0.50 per mile driven during the rental will be charged.
