How does the Car Gate work?  

The Car Gate is a drive-through scanner equipped with cameras, sensors, and lighting that photographs the vehicle before and after the rental.

All images are anonymized immediately so that customers are not visible. The photos taken at return are compared with those from pick-up to check for any potential new damage.

If any damage is detected, it is carefully reviewed by our trained staff to ensure fair and customer-oriented outcomes. Only if damage is confirmed by a human as new, a claim may be initiated by the SIXT damage department.

 

Will SIXT provide its customers with the photos of the exit and return?

If SIXT detects new damage while comparing return and exit photos, SIXT notifies customers by email. This email includes the available photo documentation to ensure full transparency.

 

How does the Car Gate process the images in which customers could be seen?  

The Car Gate is fully GDPR-compliant. Any persons visible in the images are irreversibly anonymized by automatically blurring faces or windows.
