Things to see and do in Varberg.

The city of Varberg is on Sweden's west coast and was an important defensive town, the large fortress close to the city center is worth a visit. Use your rent a car to take the short drive along the causeway to Getteron. If you are visiting in the Summer months then relax on the pleasant beaches here, whilst it is a good site for bird watching all year round. Energetic visitors can enjoy some of the country's best surfing on the coastline around Varberg, with a surf center to be found in Apelviken. An unusual day trip is to the Radio Station at Grimeton, 10 km drive away. This is the only radio station still on the 1920's long wave network and is preserved as a World Heritage Site. After a busy day's sightseeing spend some time at Kallbadhuset, an old wooden bathhouse in the ocean, and relax in a sauna.
