The Old Town: The Danish Market Museum is an outdoors museum for city culture in the heart of Aarhus. It is the worlds first outdoors museum for market culture and history. The museum is built like an old market med 75 houses from the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th century, as well as a few buildings from the 20th century, which have been retrieved from various areas in Denmark. There are hours of entertainment for children and adults as well as a unique and rare insight into our history.
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum: An international and spectacular museum for children and adults alike. With 17,000 square metres spread across 9 floors, ARoS is one of Northern Europes largest art museums. In 3 galleries, each of 1000 square metres, you are presented with art from the museums collections: meaning art from 1770 till today. Here you will see both the recent acquisitions from Danish and international artists, as well as a selection of the museums 8,000 works of art. Above ARoS floats the Danish/Icelandic art Olufur Eliassons permanent artwork - Your Rainbow Panorama %u2013 an 150 metre long and 3 metre wide circular causeway made out of glass in all the colours of the spectrum. Visitors can walk through, whilst experiencing a feast for the senses and a spectacular view of the city and surrounding area.
Marselisborg Slot: At Kongevejen 100 you will find Marselisborg Castle: the summer residence of Her Majesty the Queen Margrethe the 2nd of Denmark and her family. The castle was built between 1899-1902 and was the wedding gift from the people to the Royal Couple: King Christian the 10th and Queen Alexandrine. The castle always belongs to %u201Cthe reigning monarch in Denmark and can therefore not be inherited by anyone other than the person who inherits the throne. The castle gardens were opened to the public in 1974, and are accessible when the royal family is not residing at Marselisborg. In conjunction with this, the city of Aarhus has taken over the maintenance of the park.
