This was our first time renting a vehicle in a foreign country so we weren't sure what to expect.
We read horror stories about car rental companies outside the US tacking on addition fees and insurances as well as claiming damages that according to renters, were evident before they took possession of the vehicle.
When we arrived at Sixt in Thessaloniki Greece, it only took about 10 minutes for the attendant to finish up with the customer in front of us and another 10 minutes to go through the paperwork then walk back to the lot to pick up the SUV.
The attendant even advised us to take pictures of any existing damage to make sure it was well documented.
We were suppose to rent a BMW X1 but it wasn't available so they replaced it with an Alpha Romero SUV.
The vehicle performed well and had sufficient space for 3 people plus 6 pieces of luggage.
We drove 2400 kilometers in 9 days trouble free.
The return was in downtown Athens and the Sixt location was on a main street with little to no parking. We had to literally park in the right lane of traffic to drop off the car.
If I had anything to complain about it's the drop off location.
The attendant quickly met us on the sidewalk, took the keys, checked out the car and we were done in 10 minutes. I would definitely rent a vehicle from them again.
